Thought for the day

"Politics is the only sport where I cheer for the fans. Let the two teams kill each other." -- William Olive, Sr.

Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman is leading Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) by 57 points among Republican voters likely to vote in the Wyoming GOP primary, Brian Harnisch, the director of the University of Wyoming’s Wyoming Survey and Analysis Center (WYSAC) stated on Thursday.

“When looking only at residents who say they are Republican and likely voters in the primary, we actually see Hageman leading by roughly 50 points,” the Wyoming pollster said about the August 16 primary race.

Harnisch’s poll found that Hageman has maintained her lead over Cheney by about 29 points when voters of all affiliations are in the mix. The poll sampled 562 likely Wyoming voters from all political affiliations from July 25-August 6 and has a four point margin of error.

“Given the unique attention this race is receiving, and the accompanying increases in voter registration and potential party switching, we decided to field this survey to a random sample of all Wyoming residents on cell phones and landlines and work to identify likely voters in the GOP primary,” Harnisch said.

Internal Revenue Service

n Internal Revenue Service internal report shows heavily armed agents simulating an assault on a suburban home as part of their training.

The training was featured in the 2021 IRS annual report, which shows agents at the agency’s National Criminal Investigation Training Academy (NCITA), which is located within the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Brunswick, Georgia.

The report documents how the agents are given “firearms training” and another image shows agents wearing tactical clothing that says ‘POLICE’ and ‘IRS-CI’.

The Schumer-Manchin Inflation Reduction Act will give $80 billion dollars to the IRS, triggering a hiring spree that will potentially double the agency by 2031.

This initiative is incredibly unpopular with GOP lawmakers and conservative pundits. Fox News host of Life, Liberty & Levin Mark Levin says Republicans should announce a commitment to defund the effort in 2024 if they win both houses and the White House.

“The Republicans should announce NOW that if they win Congress and the presidency in 2024, they will defund those 87,000 IRS agents the Democrats are hiring to threaten, fine, and punish American citizens.”

Despite the fact that no one asked, the World Economic Forum is now advocating for the merger of human and artificial intelligence systems to censor “hate speech” and “misinformation” online before it is even allowed to be posted.

report published to the official WEF website ominously warns about the peril of “the dark world of online harms.”

But the globalist body, run by comic book Bond villain Klaus Schwab, has a solution.

They want to merge the ‘best’ aspects of human censorship and AI machine learning algorithms to ensure that people’s feelings don’t get hurt and counter-regime opinions are blacklisted.

“By uniquely combining the power of innovative technology, off-platform intelligence collection and the prowess of subject-matter experts who understand how threat actors operate, scaled detection of online abuse can reach near-perfect precision,” states the article.

Webmaster addition: The truth is hate speech to those who live by lies!

Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump and daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, has a stark warning for the American people.

She spoke to Fox News host Tucker Carlson and warned that if the FBI could do this to the former President of the United States they could do it to anyone.

“I have spoken to my father-in-law and I got to tell you, you know, he’s as shocked as anybody, I think. For someone and anyone, quite frankly, who loves this country and believes in America, this should shake you to your core, what has happened today. This is a very clear demarcation in the history of America. Never before, as many of your guests have already talked about, Will, have we seen something like this happen where an unannounced raid by the FBI is conducted on a former president of the United States,” she said.

“Think about this. If this is what they’re able to do to the former president of the United States, think about what they could do to you, to anybody in America. The bottom line here is that these documents that have been in question have been, everybody’s been cooperating,” the former president’s daughter-in-law.

According to the OED, a “mythos” is a “traditional or recurrent narrative theme or pattern; a standard plot in literature.” For many, the Holocaust Mythos conjures up the hope of universal redemption from the absolute evils of racism, anti-Semitism, and militant White nationalism. Arising out of the allegedly planned extermination of the Jewish people by “Nazi” Germany and its collaborators, the story has acquired canonical status in officially-constructed “memory cultures” throughout the West. In Canada, where the politically correct Trudeau regime clearly craves recognition as a humanitarian superpower, the government has followed in the footsteps of Germany and several other European states by enshrining the official narrative in the Criminal Code, s. 319. Obviously, Geico plans to sell insurance in California, but just not with real people manning real offices and - presumably - taking real checks or (worse) real paper money as payments. Better to  just go online, and use your debit card to use electronic blips to pay for insurance that itself is issued in a policy of electronic blips.

Why maintain those costly store fronts with real people?

And, should you have an accident, you can call their customer-non-service hotline, talk to a really friendly representative (if you're lucky enough to get one) in Mumbai or Calcutta, and a robot in Sacramento (if you're unlucky), who will send out a robot agent to assess the damage to your vehicle...and....

... well, you get the picture.

US offshore oil drillers Shell, Chevron and Equinor halted operations at facilities pumping hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil per day on Thursday, citing an onshore pipeline leak that a port official said should take about a day to fix.

While the shut-ins are not expected to last more than a day or two, the number of facilities affected by the leak offered another example of how a relatively minor failure can affect a swath of U.S. energy infrastructure according to Reuters, which cited a person familiar who said that the shut-ins could halt about 600,000 barrels per day of oil production.

A flange connecting two pipelines onshore in Louisiana failed and caused about two barrels of oil to spill onto the ground, said Chett Chiasson, executive director of Greater Lafourche Port Commission. A fix is expected to take about a day, he added.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its pandemic guidance today, offering slightly looser recommendations that likely won't change much about how Americans handle the pandemic these days.

According to the updated guidance, people who are not up-to-date on their vaccinations—i.e., unvaccinated people or people who have not received the recommended number of boosters—no longer need to quarantine if they know they've been exposed to someone with COVID-19. Instead, if a not up-to-date person is exposed, the CDC now recommends they wear a mask for 10 days after the exposure and get tested for COVID-19 on day 5. Currently, roughly 68 percent of the US population is not up to date on their COVID-19 vaccination.

This guidance update essentially ends all COVID-19-related quarantine recommendations since the CDC had previously said that those who are up to date on their vaccines do not need to quarantine but only wear a mask for 10 days and test.

Although it's unclear how many people were still quarantining, the end of COVID quarantining spurs one significant change, likely the most consequential of all the updates announced today: the end of the CDC's recommendation for school "test-to-stay" policies. These were policies in which not up-to-date students could use negative test results to remain in school after an exposure. This was an alternative to requiring such students to quarantine. But, in the absence of any quarantine recommendation, the test-to-stay strategy is now unnecessary.

More than 150 House members are currently registered as able to vote remotely, with the chamber set to consider Democrats' major social spending and taxation bill Friday.

According to the clerk of the House, 152 members submitted proxy letters as of late Thursday morning. Those letters designate a certain member as able to vote in-person on behalf of the member sending the letter.

That means more than one-third of members may vote remotely Friday, as the House considers the "Inflation Reduction Act," which would raise over $700 billion in taxes and spend more than $400 billion.

According to a report from The Washington Post, “classified documents relating to nuclear weapons were among the items FBI agents sought in a search of former president Donald Trump’s Florida residence on Monday, according to people familiar with the investigation.”

“Experts in classified information said the unusual search underscores deep concern among government officials about the types of information they thought could be located at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club and potentially in danger of falling into the wrong hands,” WaPo adds.

“The people who described some of the material that agents were seeking spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.”

“If that is true, it would suggest that material residing unlawfully at Mar-a-Lago may have been classified at the highest classification level,” said David Laufman, the former chief of the Justice Department’s counterintelligence section, which investigates leaks of classified information. “If the FBI and the Department of Justice believed there were top secret materials still at Mar-a-Lago, that would lend itself to greater ‘hair-on-fire’ motivation to recover that material as quickly as possible.”

Former President Donald Trump absolutely denies the claim, calling it the latest hoax to take him down.

Trump shared his thoughts on TRUTH Social.

Despite the Internet, information is tightly controlled.  Truth is hard to come by.  There is a great deal of medical and scientific evidence available  that the Covid “vaccines” are very dangerous to children, in fact many times more dangerous than Covid itself.  Yet parents still take their youngsters and even babies to be vaccinated on the mere assumption, without due diligence, that the vaccination protects their children.

Consider the masks.  That they protect against Covid has been completely discredited.  Indeed, it has been proven that the masks harm the wearers.  They cause reduced oxygen intake and unless the masks are discarded daily, bacteria accumulates in the mask which the person breathes into his lungs.  Yet, I still see some people wearing masks.  The only masks available to the public that offer any protection against the Covid virus are designated N95.  Few people know this, and even during the “pandemic” you seldom saw anyone wearing a N95 mask.

When information is suppressed, people cannot know, but even when they can find truthful information, many people do not bother.  They just accept what they hear on TV or NPR.  When they end up a basket case or with a child who is a basket case, they want to know why the pharmacist, or the nurse, or the doctor did not tell them about side effects of the vaccine.

It is this insouciant, trusting, gullible behavior of the mass of the people that gave rise to the term “sheeple.”   The sheeple are led by disinformation and thereby to harm time and time again, and they always return for more harm.

Members of the armchair class who spend their days obsessing about their own self-important thoughts have spilled an awful lot of ink about the “future of the Republican Party” and what the GOP will look like in a post-Trump world — the way of the populist simpletons or the way of the norm-guarding establishment. The latest developments at Mar-a-Lago on Monday have some of these folks giddy at the prospect that the party could be purged of the former.

Yet in the wake of the nine-hour FBI raid on the home of the former president, two things have never been clearer: There’s nothing “post-Trump” about our current world, and if the Republican Party — and the republic itself — wants to have any future at all, it had better get more interested in fighting to win than in losing more slowly with meaningless PR maneuvers.

That’s where the GOP’s so-called leaders come in, with none of them illustrating the ideological fork in the road quite as starkly as Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader from Kentucky who has established his establishment self as a stalwart against the Donald Trump wing of his party. And whether McConnell can bring himself to admit it (he can’t), that wing of the party is the party.

After the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI’s) raid of Former President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago estate in Florida earlier this week, John Paul Mac, the repairman of the notoriously infamous “laptop from hell” — which belonged to President Joe Biden’s son Hunter — came out against those actions during an interview with “Fox & Friends FIRST” on Thursday, calling it a “blatant double standard.”

Mac stated he and his family have, “witnessed the bias in the FBI going back as far as October of 2019 when they refused to touch the Hunter Biden laptop with a ten-foot poll.”

“A whistleblower on the left gets anonymity and gets to have their person remain intact while I blow the whistle and I have to flee the state with death threats,” he added.

The FBI has been widely criticized for its preferential treatment of those on the left, especially given how they handled the Hillary Clinton email scandal back in 2016, to more recent investigations into overseas business dealings and highly questionable tax-funded excursions conducted by Hunter Biden.

When asked what stood out the most on Hunter’s laptop, he replied: “When I saw how Hunter and Devon [Archer] approached the conflict in Ukraine back in 2014, they saw it as a money-making opportunity.”

Former President Donald Trump said Friday that a report claiming FBI agents were looking for documents concerning nuclear weapons at his Mar-a-Lago resort this week was a “hoax” — as a separate report said the bureau had found “dozens” of classified papers during Monday’s raid.

“Nuclear weapons issue is a Hoax, just like Russia, Russia, Russia was a Hoax, two Impeachments were a Hoax, the Mueller investigation was a Hoax, and much more,” Trump posted to Truth Social Friday morning.

“Same sleazy people involved. Why wouldn’t the FBI allow the inspection of areas at Mar-a-Lago with our lawyer’s [sic], or others, present. Made them wait outside in the heat, wouldn’t let them get even close – said ‘ABSOLUTELY NOT,’” Trump went on, before again suggesting that federal agents might have planted information during the search.

Any ‘Plan B’ in the talks on the Iranian nuclear program would violate a “consensus decision” of the UN Security Council on the issue and have “unavoidable negative consequences” for the entire Middle East, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned on Thursday.

“Any departure [from the original 2015 deal] or ‘Plans B’ that some people like to speculate about would run counter to the consensus decisions of the [UN] Security Council,” said Ivan Nechaev, the ministry’s deputy spokesman, referring to a 2015 UNSC resolution supporting that year’s agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.

The revival of the existing 2015 deal through the ongoing talks in Vienna is the only “reasonable and effective way” forward, Nechaev told journalists during a briefing. He also welcomed the latest round of indirect talks between the US and Iranian delegations in Vienna, which resulted in some “progress” on issues that had earlier been a stumbling block in the negotiations.

“A positive result of the talks is… achievable,” Nechaev said, adding that “there are no irreconcilable differences between the parties. Further progress would solely depend on each side’s “political will,” the diplomat said.

At the same time, Moscow slammed the EU for what it called the bullying tactics. “The language of ultimatums does not work in such a sensitive and high-stakes issue,” Nechaev said as he particularly criticized Peter Stano, the spokesman for EU diplomatic chief Josep Borrell.

Earlier this week, Stano told journalists that “everything that could be negotiated has been incorporated into the final version of the text” compiled after the latest round of talks between Tehran and Washington, which was mediated by the EU. “It’s yes or no,” Stano insisted, adding that “there is no more room for other compromises.” Borrell himself also called the document “the final text” at that time.

However, in July 2022, after Moncrieff published “The Serotonin Theory of Depression: A Systematic Umbrella Review of the Evidence,” she became public enemy #1 for establishment psychiatry and its apologists in the mainstream media, including Rolling Stone.

On July 30, 2022, Rolling Stone published an article about Moncrieff titled: “Who Is the Psychiatrist Behind the Antidepressant Study Taking Over Right-Wing Media?” However, Moncrieff’s study, published in the journal Molecular Psychiatry, is not an “antidepressant study.” Instead, the study is a systematic review of the empirical evidence for the serotonin theory of depression—what is commonly called the “chemical imbalance theory of depression.”

Specifically, Moncrieff’s article is a comprehensive review of the empirical evidence for the relationship between depression and the neurotransmitter serotonin. Moncrieff and her co-researchers examined hundreds of different types of studies that attempted to detect a relationship between depression and serotonin (including studies of the relationship between depression and plasma serotonin, serotonin metabolites in other bodily fluids, serotonin receptor binding, serotonin depletion experiments, and the serotonin gene).

Moncrieff concluded that there is no evidence of a link between low levels of serotonin and depression, stating: “We suggest it is time to acknowledge that the serotonin theory of depression is not empirically substantiated.”

Update (1000ET): The water level on the Rhine River at Kaub, Germany, has fallen to a critical 40 centimeters (15.7 inches). It becomes uneconomical for barges to transit Europe's most important inland waterway at this level.

"About 160 million tons of goods and commodities were hauled along the Rhine in 2020, ranging from chemicals to iron ore to oil products. Low water levels restrict the transport of goods along the waterway by limiting how much barges can carry without scraping against the riverbed," Bloomberg said.
