With 147 million dead trees, Californians brace for fire

This is the state of much of the Sierra, where aerial surveys from 2010 and 2018 counted 147 million trees that died from drought and invasive beetles. A key at-risk burn zone is between 4,000- and 6,000-foot elevations on the west flank of the central Sierra, where large swaths of pine trees lay dead. Other high-risk areas include the west flank of Yosemite and national forest just north of Lake Tahoe, according to a study and map analysis by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the U.S. Forest Service.

It’s a testament to the new era of wildfire danger: Even in a year with landmark rain and snow totals in California, and a benign start to fire season in June, the chance of another round of catastrophic wildfires this late summer and fall has fire experts cringing.

“It’s just a matter of time,” says Amy Head, a Cal Fire battalion chief. “When it happens, we’re looking at dry standing fuel ready to burn, and it could be pretty catastrophic.”

AOC Chief of Staff Confirms: Green New Deal Was Not Really About The Climate

By Sean Walton

The Chief of Staff for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez stated that her signature Green New Deal was not really about saving the planet after all.

In a report by the Washington Post, Saikat Chakrabarti revealed that “it wasn’t originally a climate thing at all … we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.”...

Bombshell Claim: Scientists Find "Man-made Climate Change Doesn't Exist In Practice"

A new scientific study could bust wide open deeply flawed fundamental assumptions underlying controversial climate legislation and initiatives such as the Green New Deal, namely, the degree to which 'climate change' is driven by natural phenomena vs. man-made issues measured as carbon footprint. Scientists in Finland found "practically no anthropogenic [man-made] climate change" after a series of studies.

“During the last hundred years the temperature increased about 0.1°C because of carbon dioxide. The human contribution was about 0.01°C”, the Finnish researchers bluntly state in one among a series of papers.

US military is world’s ‘single largest producer’ of greenhouse gases – report

The Pentagon is the “single largest producer of greenhouse gases in the world,” according to a new study about climate change that accuses the Trump administration of being in “various modes of denial” about it.

The report, from Brown University’s ‘Costs of War’ project, focuses specifically on "post-9/11 wars" and their impact on emissions. It estimates the US military has been responsible for 1,212 million metric tons of greenhouse gases between 2001 and 2017. Emissions from “overseas contingency operations” in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Syria accounted for more than 400 million metric tons of CO2. In 2017 alone, the report says, “the Pentagon's emissions were greater than all emissions from Sweden or Denmark.”

Listening to climate doomsters makes our situation worse

James Anderson (Prof of Atmospheric Chemistry at Harvard) gave a speech. It fed the daily doomster news from the Left. "There Is No Time Left" by Robert Hunziker at Counterpunch. Journalist Jeff McMahon, presented it at Forbes as yet another in the endless series of deadlines: "We Have Five Years To Save Ourselves From Climate Change." (see lists of such deadlines going back many years: here, here, here). But, as usual, Grist went into deep clickbait.

Professor Anderson believes that we have only 55 months left to "fix climate change" or we will go extinct. Some of the predictions in his speech rely on the work of other scientists (e.g., more and stronger storms in a warmer world, as predicted by Professor Michael Mann). His doomster prediction has little support from the IPCC’s reports.

Achieving 100 per cent clean energy target would 'disproportionately' impact low-income households

Reaching the Government's (Left Wing Labour) "ambitious" 100 per cent renewable energy target may increase average households' power bills by $300 a year and will a disproportionately impact low-income households.

It would also see power prices for businesses significantly increase.

This is according to the Independent Climate Change Committee's (ICCC) report into how New Zealand can reach the 100 per cent target.

The report, initially expected to be released in April, will not be publically released for at least a few weeks.

But a copy of the draft report was obtained by the Herald.

It reveals that if New Zealand achieves the target by 2035, there would be "large increases in retail electricity prices from today's levels".

Sun spotless for 33 days straight – airline travelers getting dosed with up to 70 times more radiation

Are we in a solar grand minimum? We’ve seen this before, but now predictions are for an extremely weak solar cycle ahead.

Today is the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere. The sun has been without a single observable sunspot now for over a month – 33 days according to NOAA and SIDC data. Spaceweather.com says:

"This is a sign of Solar Minimum, a phase of the solar cycle that brings extra cosmic rays, long-lasting holes in the sun’s atmosphere, and a possible surplus of noctilucent clouds. "

It’s snowing in Yellowstone—on the first day of summer.

People have long been enchanted by this land, and it’s easy to see why: Nowhere on Earth has such a stunning display of wildlife, matched with an incredible assortment of geologic activity in the form of hot springs and geysers. It really is, as it was referred to in its early days, a wonderland.

As of Friday, it’s officially summer in Yellowstone, and all manner of animals are out, breeding, eating grass, hunting, running, lounging, menacing, cowering, playing, rejoicing. Yellowstone is alive. And guess what? It’s snowing!

Oh, look – The mainstream media was WRONG again with its phony climate change predictions

Back in 2008, ABC aired a global warming propaganda series entitled, "Earth 2100" that predicted major calamities to occur all around the world by the year 2015 as a result of climate change. But, wouldn’t you know it? None of the show’s fear-mongering prognostications ever actually came to pass.

During a recent episode of his radio show, conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh mocked the contents of a trailer for "Earth 2100" that once aired as part of a "Good Morning America" promotion. In it, the on-screen subtitles suggested that past civilizations like the Roman and Mayan empires collapsed, not because of war and conflict, but because of climate change.

"100 years from now, if New York is abandoned, I picture some explorer coming to Manhattan saying, ‘Those ignorant people! How on earth could they have ever expected to survive?’" one of the film’s "experts" is heard saying during the promo, along with scary music and imagery of the planet dying.

The US military is among the world's biggest contributors to climate change and is responsible for more emissions than some entire COUNTRIES, study says

In a study by scientists from Durham and Lancaster University published in Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers, researchers examine emissions stemming from the US military's logistical supply chains.

Just taking into account emissions stemming from fuel usage the researchers say that if the US military were a country, it would be the 47th biggest contributor to climate change worldwide, in between Peru and Portugal according to World Bank data.

In 2017, the US military purchased 269,230 barrels of oil per day according to researchers, with the Navy topping all other branches by spending a whopping $4.9 billion on fuel.

Sweden's Electric Car Boom Is Under Threat From Power Crunch

Sweden’s ambitious plan to drastically cut emissions from transport by bringing millions of electric cars onto the road could be derailed by a lack of power capacity for new charging stations in major cities.

An increase in government grants sent sales of electric cars surging by 253% in the first five months this year, but the rally could be over before it’s really started. Demand for electricity in Stockholm and other cities is outgrowing capacity in local grids, forcing new charging networks to compete with other projects from housing to subway lines to get hooked up.

'Wild,' 'woolly' and 'rare': Parts of Australia blanketed with snow

In what forecasters are calling a "rare" event, Australia saw snow Monday in parts of its eastern coast that hadn't had a significant snowfall in four years.

"A few snowflakes seen this morning near the NSW border at Eukey, just south of #Stanthorpe," the Bureau of Meteorology in Queensland wrote in a tweet.

Photos shared on social media showed a layer of ice and snow blanketing the ground of parts of the island as the Bureau of Meteorology issued weather warnings throughout its eastern coast.

The snow was seen in various parts of Queensland and New South Wales, according to forecasters.

California snowpack 202% of average for this time of year

The amount of snow blanketing the Sierra Nevada is even larger than the 2017 snowpack that pulled the state out of a five-year drought, California water officials said.

As of Thursday, the snowpack measured 202% of average after a barrage of storms throughout winter and spring, according to the Department of Water Resources.

The wet weather has slowed but not stopped, with thunderstorms prompting flash flood warnings Sunday in the central and southern parts of the state.

At this time last year, the snowpack measured 6% of average — making this year 33 times bigger than 2018, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

In 2017, the snowpack measured 190% of average.

The snowpack supplies about 30 percent of state water needs.

Delingpole: To Survive, Britain’s Conservatives Must ‘Get Rid of the Green Crap’

Besides the Brexit Party, one of the big winners of the European Parliament elections — in Germany, France, Austria, Sweden, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and the UK — were the Greens.
There’s a lesson buried in this story — but it’s not what you might think. And it’s definitely, definitely the opposite of the conclusion being drawn by the Conservative Party.

In the Conservative mindset, green issues are one of those politically neutral, morally and socially positive causes you can embrace without betraying your principles or alienating your base.

This delusion is widespread, as we can see from the number of Tory leadership candidates who have decided to campaign on a green-friendly platform. Rory Stewart, Michael Gove, Boris Johnson, Jeremy Hunt, Matt Hancock, even the hard-headed and supposedly right-wing Dominic Raab have all, with varying degrees of canting enthusiasm, mentioned environment and climate change among their urgent priorities.

Corporate media accidentally admits higher CO2 levels were present on planet Earth millions of years before humankind ever existed

Hilariously, in the process of fear-mongering about CO2 levels supposedly reaching critical levels today, new “research” by the American Geophysical Union (AGU) claims that, if something isn’t done now to reverse this alleged disastrous trend towards apparent planetary CO2 suffocation, total human CO2 emissions “could match those of Earth’s last major greenhouse warming event” – which AGU says occurred during the “Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum” period roughly 56 million years ago.

But wait: What would have caused CO2 levels to reach epic proportions 56 million years ago before humans were even in the picture? AGU doesn’t say, nor does it address the fact that 56 million years ago, there were no vehicles around to burn fossil fuels, either.

Sea level data ALTERED by scientists to create false impression of rising oceans

A scientific paper published by a team of Australian researchers has revealed a startling find: Scientists at the Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL) have been “adjusting” historical data regarding tide levels in the Indian Ocean. Their “highly questionable” activities have depicted rapidly rising seas — but the truth is that there is no reason to be alarmed at all. Scientists have found that sea levels are stable — and have been for the entirety of the 20th century.

To put it simply, these PSMSL “scientists” have been arbitrarily changing their data in order to create the illusion of a problem that doesn’t actually exist.

According to the Australian research team, sea levels in the Indian ocean have remained stable for decades. Dr. Albert Parker and Dr. Clifford Ollier recently published their astounding research in the journal Earth Systems and Environment; their extensive research gives an in-depth look at how this massive deception was undertaken.

‘IT’S JUST THE WEATHER’: METEOROLOGIST FACT-CHECKS OCASIO-CORTEZ ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggested the tornado warning that hit the D.C. area Thursday was part of the “climate crisis” she has previously said humanity only has 12 years left to solve.

“The climate crisis is real y’all,” Ocasio said on Instagram Thursday, “guess we’re at casual tornadoes in growing regions of the country?”

However, she was quickly fact-checked by meteorologist Ryan Maue, who pointed out that far from proof of a “climate crisis,” D.C.’s tornado warning was “just the weather.”

Weather WARNING: Solar minimum arrives EARLY and it could bring long EXTREME cold

Cosmic forecasting website Space Weather said the lack of sunspots is similar to the last solar minimum.

The site stated: “The sun has been without sunspots for 79 days so far this year – more than half the time.

“To find a similar number of blank suns, you have to go back to 2009 when the sun was experiencing the deepest solar minimum in a century.”

Earth’s host star was not expected to head into a solar minimum until around 2020 and, if the phenomenon has arrived early, this will mean a prolonged cold snap.

Flashback: In Search Of... The Coming Ice Age

In this day and age of global warming alarmism people either forgot or don’t know that there was a time only 35 years ago when “scientists” were screaming and warning us of the coming ice age.

Below is an episode of “in Search of …”, a 1970s show hosted by Leonard ‘Mr. Spock’ Nimoy that explored mysteries of the day. This particular episode first aired in May, 1978 and explores “The Coming Ice Age.”

I find this episode interesting because they present the same historical data and trends we’re familiar with today – including the 40 year temperature decline that had begun 40 years earlier. But in the late 70s alarmists interpreted this data to mean an ice age was imminent.

Denver weather: Snow arrives early at DIA, potential of 1 to 2 inches of accumulation in city

Snow began falling at Denver International Airport early Monday afternoon, hours earlier than forecasters had predicted, forcing meteorologists to increase their projections for snowfall in the Mile High City.

“Right now there is currently a snow shower at Denver International Airport,” said Natalie Sullivan, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder. She said a band of snow arrived at DIA much earlier than originally expected.

“We’re looking at the potential of 1 to 2 inches of snow in Denver now,” Sullivan said. The NWS had predicted as recently as Monday morning that it wouldn’t start snowing in Denver until 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Long before global warming, a “consensus” of scientists warned that global COOLING was responsible for extreme weather events

The global cooling scare of the 1970s is now proclaimed to be nothing more than an urban myth, but at one time it was indeed a very real concern.

The National Center For Atmospheric Research is the U.S. federal government’s top authority on climate science. And in 1974, Steven Schneider was at its helm. Back then, Schneider was a proponent of “global cooling,” stating that the dropping temperatures would lead to a massive food shortage. Sounds familiar, right? One solution proposed at the time was to melt the Arctic ice cap. The narrative from the 1970s mirrors that of the global warming discussion today: The planet’s temperature is changing, people will starve, and only extreme human intervention can save us from a perilous fate. Only today, scientists are exploring perhaps even more appalling options — such as blocking the sun’s rays to artificially cool the Earth’s temperature.

Bill Nye Brings Out the F-Bombs and a Blowtorch to Talk Climate Change

Science popularizer Bill Nye told viewers of a popular late-night show that Earth is "on [expletive] fire" while lighting a globe with a blowtorch.

During his appearance on HBO's "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver" on Sunday (May 12), Nye used frank language to talk to millennials about the impacts of global warming on Earth. (Nye's comments are heavily edited here for language; viewer discretion is advised if you watch the video.)

"By the end of this century, if temperatures keep rising, the average temperature on Earth could go up another 4 to 8 degrees," Nye said to Oliver. (Nye was referring to degrees Celsius; the equivalent change in Fahrenheit is roughly 7 to 14 degrees). "What I'm saying is, the planet's on [expletive] fire."

Europe Electroglides have Passed Climate Alarmism’s Point of No Return

Europe’s petroleum phase-out planners have long been arch-reifiers of the Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming hypothesis. Their enlistment of the European auto industry may prove a coup de grace. Historians may pick 2019 as the year European climate alarmism passed a point of no return.

During the 1970s oil crisis European governments devised stratagems to reduce oil consumption. These involved phasing-out oil-fueled electrical generation; improving public transit; and imposing vehicle fuel efficiency standards. Much hope was placed in bio-fueled, and hydrogen-fueled, vehicles; …in electric vehicles (EVs), not so much.

Jakobshavn Isbrae: Mighty Greenland glacier slams on brakes

European satellites have detailed the abrupt change in behaviour of one of Greenland's most important glaciers.

In the 2000s, Jakobshavn Isbrae was the fastest flowing ice stream on the island, travelling at 17km a year.

As it sped to the ocean, its front end also retreated and thinned, dropping in height by as much as 20m year.

But now it's all change. Jakobshavn is travelling much more slowly, and its trunk has even begun to thicken and lengthen.

"It's a complete reversal in behaviour and it wasn't predicted," said Dr Anna Hogg from Leeds University and the UK Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling (CPOM).

Bill Nye says "the planet's on f****ing fire" and we need to "grow the f*** up"

Bill Nye deviated from his kid-friendly "Science Guy" persona on Sunday night to help John Oliver talk about the severity of climate change. Nye proved he's not always the mild-mannered nerd millennials grew up with when he joined Oliver during his episode detailing carbon pricing and the Green New Deal.

Oliver first outlined the case for the Green New Deal, the environment and jobs proposal introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. "To its eternal credit, the Green New Deal has succeeded in getting people talking, but that won't mean anything unless that talk turns into action," Oliver said.

"We're going to need a lot of different policies working tandem, and we have to take action right now," the comedian said, towards the end of the segment. "But you don't have to just take that from me. Instead, I'm happy to say Bill Nye has actually agreed to drive the urgency home at this point by actually doing one of his enjoyable, lighthearted demonstrations."

The Reason Renewables Can't Power Modern Civilization Is Because They Were Never Meant To

Over the last decade, journalists have held up Germany’s renewables energy transition, the Energiewende, as an environmental model for the world.

“Many poor countries, once intent on building coal-fired power plants to bring electricity to their people, are discussing whether they might leapfrog the fossil age and build clean grids from the outset,” thanks to the Energiewende, wrote a New York Times reporter in 2014.

With Germany as inspiration, the United Nations and World Bank poured billions into renewables like wind, solar, and hydro in developing nations like Kenya.

Emma Thompson the first-class hypocrite! Actress is pictured dining on champagne and beef in £18,000 personal booth on carbon-spewing BA plane jetting to New York days after lecturing us all to stop flying

Left-wing actress Dame Emma Thompson was branded a ‘first-class hypocrite’ last night after jetting to New York just days after backing climate protests that brought chaos to London.

The Jeremy Corbyn supporter took her personal booth in the luxury cabin of a British Airways flight from Heathrow to JFK on Friday morning after earlier demanding: ‘We should all fly less.’

First-class BA flights to New York cost up to £18,000 and generate nearly two tons of carbon dioxide – the main driver of climate change – for each passenger in the elite cabin.

Onlookers claim the multi-millionaire activist also drank Laurent-Perrier champagne and dined on beef carpaccio – even though cattle farming is also a major contributor to greenhouse gasses.
