Erdogan, Putin, Merkel and Macron to Meet March 5 on Idlib

The Turkish, Russian, German and French leaders will meet on March 5 to try to find a solution to the crisis in the city of Idlib as Turkey and Russian-backed Syrian forces risk confrontation in the region.

Following phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday that he will meet them all on March 5, without disclosing the location. As Turkey slides toward war, Ankara has appealed to the U.S. and its European allies for support in a conflict that risks undermining the friendly ties he’s built with Moscow.

READ: Turkey and Russia Near Breaking Point in Syrian Standoff

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just what kinds of back-channel communications are going on here, between Ankara and DC; because the US still wants al-Assad out of Damascus, has Turkey been promised some kind of quid pro quo, for keeping Turkish, and Turkish-backed rebels in Idlib, no matter the costs from Syrian and Russian military?!?

Looking at the apparent madness of Edrogan's stand and demands here, this is almost the only thing which makes sense.

He was flying back to Europe from New York and 3 others were flying from Europe to New York to sail the vessel back. So that is four flights to save her one flight. Obviously a PR stunt. But it got me curious as to who the heck was paying for these flights? This is a quick synopsis of what I found out.

What Happens In Thuringia, Won't Stay In Thuringia

Now, the head of the CDU state party in Thuringia, Mike Mohring, has stepped down, another casualty of Merkel’s iron-fisted policies to deny parties outside of her purview from entering the German political mainstream.

Mohring understood that there was no coalition in Thuringia without the CDU climbing down off its high horse and making a deal with either euroskeptic parties which dominated the polls there — Die Linke or Alternative for Germany (AfD).

US Says Latest Sanctions Have Finally Thwarted Russia-Germany NS2 Gas Pipeline

The Trump administrated is claiming to have successfully thwarted the multi-billion dollar Russia-Germany gas pipeline known as Nord Stream 2, after US sanctions in December took direct aim at the European and international companies and their executives assembling the controversial 760-mile long project that would allow Russia to export natural gas directly to Germany.

Bloomberg reports the White House's "top energy official said he’s confident that Russia won’t be able to complete the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea — and signaled that the U.S. will press forward with its opposition to the project."

Beyond Ukraine: America’s Coming (Losing) Battle for Eurasia

by Maj. Danny Sjursen, USA (ret.) Posted on February 06, 2020

Academic historians reject anything smacking of inevitably. Instead they emphasize the contingency of events as manifested through the inherent agency of human beings and the countless decisions they make. On the merits, such scholars are basically correct. That said, there was something – if not inevitable – highly probable, almost (forgive me) deterministic about the two cataclysmic world wars of the 20th century. Both, in retrospect, were driven, in large part, by collective – particularly Western – nations’ adherence to a series of geopolitical philosophies.

“The United States has military presence all over the world. We have presence in Germany, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, I mean…none of those countries consider themselves occupied by the United States and certainly don’t consider ourselves to be occupiers,” said Friedman.

Audie Murphy — then a second lieutenant commanding Company B of the 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division — found himself surrounded by six German tanks and wave after wave of enemy infantry while fighting in Holtzwihr, France. Rather than retreat with his men, Murphy made a gutsy decision: He ordered his soldiers withdraw to the cover of nearby forest and set up their artillery while he remained at his forward command post to direct their fire.

Authored by Paul Joseph Watson via Summit News,A German panel of linguists which decides on a new word to ‘ban’ every year has announced the ‘un-wording’ of the term “climate hysteria” because it undermines propaganda about man-made global warming.

First of all, just let it sink in that there is an organization comprised of linguists which exists solely to ‘ban’ words and terms that they don’t like. Their action is known as ‘Un-word of the year’.

They’re literally attempting to re-create 1984’s Newspeak dictionary, which shrank in size year after year in order to eliminate language and limit free thought and free speech, making it harder for the plebs to vocalize their opposition to The Party.

As you may have suspected, every word or term already ‘banned’ by the group in recent years are ones used by conservatives to challenge leftist political tropes. Imagine my shock.

Terms ‘un-worded’ in recent years include “alternative facts,” “do-gooder,” “Lügenpresse” (liar press) and “welfare tourism” (referring to “foreigners in Germany allegedly leeching on the welfare system.”)

The panel says it exists to discourage the use of words that “discriminate against societal groups or may be euphemistic, disguising or misleading.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Absoflippinglutely unbelievable, yet thoroughly predictable, courtesy of the German "Word Police".

Because when a narrative does not jive with the science facts of what is happening with the earth's climate, that narrative has to be confined, condemned, crushed, and restrained, so that no one will hear anything approximating a what is tantamount to a dangerously reasonable challenge to the status quo belief.

George Orwell was much more than a brilliant writer; he was a prophet of the highest order, and now that we see his societal prophecies taking shape, both in this country, and the world, at absolutely beyond warp speed, we recognise how completely dystopian this world has become.

President Trump DID threaten Britain, France and Germany with 25% tariff on car exports if they did not wage diplomatic war with Iran over broken nuclear deal, German defense minister claims

By Jack Elsom For Mailonline

Donald Trump tried to strong-arm Britain and its European allies into waging diplomatic war with Iran by threatening to impose 25 per cent tariffs on their lucrative car exports, the German defense minister revealed yesterday.

The US President was piling pressure on Boris Johnson, Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron to formally accuse Tehran of violating the 2015 nuclear deal.

At a press conference in London yesterday, Germany's Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer confirmed reports of such economic threats and said: 'This expression or threat, as you will, does exist.'

A 25 per cent tax on cars would particularly hurt Germany, which exports around £23billion worth of vehicles across the Atlantic each year.

The main victims were the European companies which had helped finance the 11 billion dollar project with the Russian company Gazprom. The project is now 80 % finished. The Austrian company Omy, British/Dutch Royal Dutch Shell, French Engie, German companies Uniper and Wintershall, Italian Saipem and Swiss Allseas are also taking part in the laying of the pipeline.

‘Climate tariffs’ on fracked ‘molecules of freedom’: German think tank wants to punish US for sanctions against Nord Stream 2

Claudia Kemfert, an economist at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), has argued that Nord Stream 2 is “environmentally harmful, economically unnecessary and financially unprofitable” – but described the US sanctions as “unacceptable” and requiring a response from the EU.

"Europe should consider imposing climate tariffs on the United States so that environmentally harmful fracking gas cannot be exported from the United States to Germany and Europe"

While the government in Berlin has expressed“regret” over US “interference in our domestic affairs,” it has done nothing to counter it. Kemfert’s initiative, first mentioned in the daily Handelsblatt earlier this week, appears to be the only proposed reprisal so far.

German Greens Propose Giving Passports to All ‘Climate Refugees’

Members of the German Green Party have proposed that so-called “climate refugees” should be allowed to move to the country and receive a German passport upon their arrival.

The proposal was championed by long-time Green politician Claudia Roth who said the passports should be made available for people in areas such as various Pacific islands, which she said could be threatened by climate change, German tabloid Bild reports.

How many “climate refugees” such a policy would cover is unclear, although the United Nations has previously claimed that there could be as many 25 million to over a billion people affected by climate change by the year 2050.

According to the Greens, the World Bank has put out the number of 140 million climate refugees by 2050 from just South Asia, South America, and Africa, all of which would theoretically be eligible for a German passport under the proposal.

Germany ‘won’t back down’ under threat of US sanctions over Nord Stream 2 pipeline with Russia – Merkel

Chancellor Angela Merkel has insisted that Berlin will not give into pressure from Washington after the US Senate approved a bill sanctioning German companies working on a pipeline that will deliver natural gas from Russia.
During Wednesday’s Q&A session in parliament, lawmakers asked Merkel about the possibility of the US slapping sanctions on German companies building the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

The chancellor said that she firmly opposes such sanctions because they have an extraterritorial effect. They will not push Berlin to abandon the project, however, she said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As the American comedian Ron White frequently mentions, "You can't fix stupid."

And in terms of being one of the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly idiotic things President Trump could have possibly done, just after attempting to shake down NATO members for more money, President Trump wins the crown for complete, abysmal stupidity, relative to both Germany and Europe, with this move.

Deutsche Bahn in Trouble With Berlin Authorities After Exposing Greta Thunberg ‘Train Bluff‘

After the teen climate activist tweeted a picture of herself sitting on the floor of an “overcrowded train” in Germany, the transportation giant reprimanded her for holding back that she had a first-class ticket. As it turned out, Deutsche Bahn might have revealed a bit too much information about her trip.

The German train giant Deutsche Bahn has been called to Berlin’s data protection officer over its sarcastic response to climate activist Greta Thunberg’s tweet about “overcrowded trains”, German media report. Maja Smoltczyk, tasked with watching out for citizens’ privacy, has intervened as the company revealed the teenager’s travel data.

America’s illegal alien population is three times Europe’s

American conservatives are concerned that we are a step or two behind Europe in committing open-borders suicide. But if you actually look at the numbers, in many respects America is blazing the trail to destruction much more swiftly than Europe.

Germany Tells US to ‘Mind Its Own Business’ as Congress Votes in Sanctions on Nord Stream Companies

I keep hearing how Russia and China are not allies because they aren’t as close and don’t have a formal treaty like the US and its European NATO “allies”. Well at least Russia and China don’t sanction each other’s economies. In fact it is the US and Germany which are not allies, that’s because the Empire does not have allies, only clients. The difference between the two being precisely that allies are entitled to their own separate interests where client states are not.

Germany rejects any extraterritorial sanctions against Russia's Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline – Foreign Ministry

Berlin has reaffirmed its support for the Russia-led gas pipeline despite the threat of new US sanctions against European firms involved in the project. Nord Stream 2 will be completed, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

"European energy policy is decided in Europe, not the United States. We reject any outside interventions and extraterritorial sanctions," said German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.

The statement comes amid looming US sanctions against the project, that were recently added to US 2020 National Defence Authorisation Act, which is up for approval before Christmas.

If approved by the US Congress, the act would allow the Trump administration to sanction companies involved in Russian gas pipeline projects.

"Floodgates Are Open" - German Banks Start Charging Retail Savers

It has been over 7 years since the European Central Bank's key deposit facility rate was positive, and just a few weeks ago it was lowered to a record low of -50bps.

Source: Bloomberg

And during that time, European bank stocks have suffered greatly...

Source: Bloomberg

As Cornelius Riese, co-CEO of Frankfurt-based DZ Bank A.G. (Germany’s second-largest by assets), observed, negative rates indeed “have a huge impact on banks.” Riese ventured to offer some gentle criticism of Draghi & Co.’s grand policy experiment:

“Maybe at the end of the story, in three to five years, we will notice it was a historical mistake.”

Well, it appears we are about to reach the vinegar strokes of that 'historical mistake', as Bloomberg reports, German banks are breaking the last taboo: Charging retail clients for their savings starting with very first euro in the their accounts.

THE HOWS AND WHYS OF GERMAN SUPPORT OF ISRAELI APARTHEID

How does Chancellor Merkel intend to explain it during her first visit to Auschwitz on December 6, 2019, that she and her government – given the historical responsibility for the Holocaust and 74 years after the liberation of Auschwitz from the National Socialist concentration and extermination camp by the soldiers of the Red Army – miss any respect when it comes to the permanent break of international law in the “Jewish state”. Does not it respect the respect for international law, as a compelling doctrine from German history, to finally take back the raison d’etat for the security of the “Jewish state”? How can a German government ignore the constant violations of international law simply because they are committed by a Jewish regime, descendants of the victims of the Holocaust? The clear rules, which international law has, Merkel can not simply sweep her “Christian Zionism” under the table.

STUNNING! Globalist Angela Merkel to German Parliament: We Have to Take Away your Freedom of Speech or We Won’t Be Free

Chancellor Angela Merkel delivered an emotional speech to the German Budestag this week on the need for limiting freedom of speech.

Merkel is the current globalist leader on the international stage.

Merkel argued that the government must take away freedom of speech to save freedom of speech, or something.

Angela Merkel: For those who claim they can no longer express their opinion, I say this to them: If you express and pronounced opinion, you must live with the fact that you will be contradicted. Expressing an opinion does not come at zero cost. But freedom of expression has its limits. Those limits begin where hatred is spread. They begin where the dignity of other people is violated. This house will and must oppose extreme speech. Otherwise our society will no longer be the free society that it was.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Truth is always the first casualty of wars, particularly in culture wars, which is precisely what is happening now in the UK and Europe.

And I must politely suggest to Chancellor Merkel, that she is presiding over a nation which, because of her and Germany's immigration system, that voters are going to lurch way far to the right in the next general election, and she, and her government, will only have themselves to blame when it happens.

ISRAELI GOVERNMENT TO EXPAND GLOBAL ARMS EXPORTS IN 2020

SOURCE: MIDDLE EAST MONITOR
The Israeli government is aiming to increase the volume of Israel’s defence exports, reported Globes, which has revealed the main points of the plan for the first time.

The project, being overseen by the Defence Ministry’s International Defence Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT) led by Brigadier General (Res.) Yair Kulas, will begin to be rolled out in early 2020.

According to Globes, the plan is based on “focused seminars for senior commanders in foreign armies”, Israeli military “assistance for promoting sales of Israeli weapons”, and “subsidising small and medium-sized defence companies seeking to sell arms around the world”.

Speaking this week, Kulas said that SIBAT favours a major expansion of agreements between countries, resulting in significant deals for the large defence companies, especially Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Rafael Advanced Defence Systems.

"British" Bankers Supplied Germany to Extend WWI

By Henry Makow Ph.D.
(From Dec. 1, 2007)
On Oct 12, 1915, Edith Cavell, 50, a British nurse and head of a teaching hospital in Belgium, was shot by a German firing squad. Her death inflamed anti-German feeling in the US and caused enlistment in England to double.

She had helped some British POW's escape. Normally her crime was punished by three months imprisonment. Why was she killed?

According to Eustace Mullins, Edith Cavell had stumbled upon some damaging information. On April 15, 1915, The Nursing Mirror in London published her letter revealing that the Allied "Belgian Relief Commission" (charged with feeding Belgium) was, in fact, channeling thousands of tons of supplies to Germany.

The Greatest Intellectual Property Theft in History: Operation Paperclip

The plunder of Germany's scientific and industrial knowledge after World War Two.

The initial purpose of what began as Operation Overcast was to plunder Germany of all its scientific and industrial knowledge after World War Two. The plan was to steal documents and working samples, but the depth and breadth of German industrial knowledge proved much too complex to be usefully understood from a simple examination of documents. In spite of the immense trove of scientific, technical, and industrial knowledge confiscated from Germany, the US failed to benefit due to a lack of know-how. It became quickly apparent that the process would require an extensive debriefing of German scientists and technicians to obtain adequate working knowledge of German industrial and scientific theory and processes.

Shortly after German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz released his plan to complete the European Banking Union via the Financial Times, several reports surfaced claiming that Scholz had inexplicably neglected to inform Chancellor Merkel about the plan, testing Merkel's political authority as she struggles to finish out the rest of what's set to be her final term.

As it turns out, snubs like this one are becoming increasingly common as Merkel appears to have lost control over her government. Two weeks ago, Defense Minister Annegret Kamp-Karrenbauer proposed a peace plan for Northern Syria without clearing it with the chancellor. Though at least during that incident, Merkel was given a heads up about the plan. AKK's ideas were pilloried by the Social Democrats and Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, and the whole incident ended up embarrassing the government as it seeks to combat speculation that it's asleep at the wheel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Considering the German mood regarding the effects of unfettered immigration, coupled with economic woes, I think that Angela Merkel's party is headed for a real route, come the 2021 elections, unless she can figure how to turn the challenges Germans face from both issues around in time to prevent an absolute shellacking in 2021.

German Finance Minister Publishes New Banking Union Plan To Save The EU (And Deutsche Bank)

Less than a year after his finance ministry failed to broker a merger between Commerzbank and Deutsche Bank in a bid to rescue the flailing German lending giant (Deutsche) and create a new national champion (or so he hoped), German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz is embarking on a campaign to convince the European Union to finish work on a comprehensive banking union.

Many have argued that Europe's lack of a comprehensive banking regulatory framework make the system particularly vulnerable to chaos and infiltration by criminal groups (evidenced by the money laundering scandal that has embroiled several northern European banking giants).

And with Brexit finally nearing the end game, or so it appears, Scholz argues that Europe's global position would be at risk if it doesn't finish the integration of the eurozone's financial sector, seeing as the EU is losing one of its main financial centers in London.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With Europeans already up in arms on the effects of inviting unvetted immigrants, adding this potential financial pain to German taxpayers, will most probably, cause the next German elections to veer wildly to the right.

Antifa Viciously Beat Female Real Estate Employee in Her Home

German far-left Antifa extremists broke into the apartment of a real estate company employee and viciously beat her in an ongoing war against a luxury apartment development in Leipzig.

The attack saw two far-left extremists invade the apartment of the 34-year-old real estate worker at around 7 p.m. on Sunday and hit her in the face with their fists several times, according to police spokesman Andreas Loepki, German tabloid Bild reports.

After the attack, Loepki said that the Antifa extremists told the woman: “Goodbye, ‘Greetings from Connewitz.'”

The Horten Flying Wings

Nothing New Under The Sun...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjXr5w3M4mc

When the newest American super-bomber, the Northrop B-2, was revealed to the public at Palmdale, California on November 22, 1988, many aviation history enthusiasts must have noted that the configuration selected by the aircraft's designers, namely that of the "flying wing," had been resurrected from the dead, as it were. Although present day experience has shown that the all-wing configuration is the best one for avoiding detection by enemy radar (aided by the latest technology in materials, electronics and computers), the same configuration has been in practical use since about 1930. The first jet-powered all-wing aircraft flew in Germany on February 2, 1945, and at the time was also virtually undetectable by radar, partly on account of its mixed construction (wooden wings).

‘Halt this escalation!’ Bundestag MPs demand that US troops leave Germany to avoid tensions with Russia

German MPs have demanded that the government expel US forces stationed in Germany. MPs argue that their presence only serves the purposes of the US illegal wars in the Middle East and stokes tensions with Moscow.

Lawmakers from the opposition Left Party have tabled a motion calling on Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government to immediately stop financing the American military presence in the country and to annul a 1990 treaty allowing US soldiers to be deployed on German soil in the first instance.

Germany To Enact Even Harsher Punishments For Saying Anything Jews Don’t Like

Using the pretext of the recent attack in Halle in which no Jews were even hurt let alone killed, Germany’s Interior Minister announced a new six-point plan to combat antisemitism on Thursday:

Speaking to the federal parliament, the Bundestag, Interior Minister Horst Seehoffer acknowledged that “antisemitism is anchored in parts of our society.” His plan includes an obligation to report hate speech on the internet, bans on extremist political groups, a stricter weapons law and more prevention work by the authorities.

In his remarks, Seehofer spoke of “individual perpetrators” who “build up their frustration outside the public sphere without initially recognizable connections to anyone.” This was a new challenge for the authorities because it was no longer enough to observe an extremist party, he said.

Donald Trump Threatens to Dump Imprisoned Daesh Fighters at Europe’s Doorstep

US President Donald Trump has threatened to set prisoners from Europe who joined Daesh* in Syria and Iraq free at the EU’s borders if they refuse to take back the captives. According to the American commander-in-chief, after the US defeated the so-called caliphate, Washington has “thousands of prisoners of war, ISIS fighters" who are European nationals, but these countries are refusing to cooperate. He singled out France and Germany when speaking on the matter.

"We're asking the countries from which they came, from Europe, we're asking them to take back these prisoners of war. And they can try them, do what they want. So far, they've refused. And at some point, I'm going to have to say, 'I'm sorry, but you either take them back or we're going to let them go at your border'", he said.

Pesticides or random coincidence? Mystery lingers over NEW CASES of babies born with hand and arm defects in Europe

Pesticides or random coincidence? Mystery lingers over NEW CASES of babies born with hand and arm defects in Europe.

Authorities are at a loss to explain why several babies born in a west German province have similar hand deformities. One hospital, where three such cases were seen, described the baffling phenomenon as “striking.”
With “no nationwide registry” to keep track of deformities, the St. Mary’s Hospital in Gelsenkirchen, near Dortmund, has admitted it is difficult to accurately monitor the situation or establish any kind of pattern.

Three babies were born at the hospital with undeveloped palms and fingers on one hand, between June and September this year. RT has twice contacted both the city administration of Gelsenkirchen and St Mary’s Hospital seeking more information on the situation, but has received no response.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This has to be addressed by the highest level of forensic research, for this anomalies; if the ultrasounds keep indicating that baby and mom are doing brilliantly, why does this keep happening in Europe?!?

Kamila Shamsie stripped of German literary prize over support for BDS

A German city has reversed its decision to hand a literary prize to the novelist Kamila Shamsie because of her support for the pro-Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

The British-Pakistani author was announced as the winner of the Nelly Sachs Prize, named after a Jewish poet and Nobel laureate and organised and funded by the city of Dortmund, on 10 September.

But in a statement on Wednesday, organisers said the jury had reversed its decision to honour Shamsie, and that the 2019 award would not be handed to any author, with the next winner to be announced in 2021.

"With its vote for the British writer Kamila Shamsie as the winner of the Nelly Sachs Prize 2019, the jury honoured the author's outstanding literary work.

FRANCE AND GERMANY AGREE TO BLOCK FACEBOOK'S LIBRA

SOURCE: REUTERS
PARIS (Reuters) - France and Germany have agreed to block Facebook’s Libra cryptocurrency, the French finance ministry said on Friday.

In a joint statement, the two governments affirmed that “no private entity can claim monetary power, which is inherent to the sovereignty of nations”.

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Thursday that Facebook’s new cryptocurrency should not be allowed to operate in Europe while concerns persist about sovereignty and persistent financial risks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It will be interesting to see how this development evolves; can France and Germany actually block the distribution of the Libra Cryptocurrency?!?, because Facebook "is not a sovereign nation"?!?

Because “A World Without Insects Is Not Worth Living In,” Germany Announces Plan to Ban Glyphosate by 2023

By Andrea Germanos

The German government announced Wednesday it had agreed on a plan to phase out the use of glyphosate—the key chemical in the weedkiller Roundup—with a total ban set to begin by the end of 2023.

“Way to go, Germany!” tweeted the U.S.-based advocacy group Organic Consumers Association...

GERMANY TO BAN USE OF GLYPHOSATE BY END 2023

By Jerri-Lynn Scofield, who has worked as a securities lawyer and a derivatives trader. She is currently writing a book about textile artisans.

Germany has announced it will reduce its use of glyphosate and ban it outright from the end of 2023, just after an EU-wide license to use the weedkiller expires in December 2022.

As DW reports in Germany set to ban glyphosate from end of 2023:

The ban, agreed by the Cabinet on Wednesday, is part of an insect conservation program from Environment Minister Svenja Schulze.

It includes a “systematic reduction strategy” which would initially prohibit use of the chemical in domestic gardens and allotments, and on the edge of farmers’ fields.

Germany’s move comes after lawmakers in Austria passed a bill banning all use of the weedkiller, making the country the first to do so. Some 20 French mayors banned it from their municipalities last month — in defiance of their national government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Bravo, German Environment Minister Svenja Schulze! Well-done, and well-played!!

On Monday evening, another bomb was successfully defused in the western city of Cologne after 4,800 people were evacuated so the operation could go ahead.

German far-right leader Andreas Kalbitz is poised to triumph in state elections despite controversy over extremist past attending a neo-Nazi youth event and being member of group which downplayed the Holocaust

A leading member of the nationalist Alternative for Germany party is set to triumph in state elections despite alarm over his extremist past.

Andreas Kalbitz, 46, who leads the party in the eastern state of Brandenburg, said on Tuesday that 'one could accuse me of right-wing extremist connections, but certainly not of having far-right extremist biography.'

With some polls showing Alternative for Germany coming first in next month's state elections in Brandenburg, Kalbitz has faced scrutiny over his past views.

Gideon Botsch, a political scientist at the University of Potsdam, said Kalbitz was 'very clearly rooted in the right-wing extremist scene' from a young age.

German Foreign Minister’s Plane Mysteriously Breaks Down Twice in Less Than 24 Hours En Route to US

The state of the German government’s fleet of aircraft has come under considerable scrutiny in recent months amid repeated incidents involving the breakdown of VIP planes. Late last year, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Airbus was grounded after a “serious malfunction” left it flying blind during a trip to Argentina for a G20 summit.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas’s trip to New York for a meeting of the UN Security Council got off to a rocky start after his government plane faced two consecutive breakdowns in a matter of hours, the Luftwaffe’s press service has reported.
