US Democrats remove ‘occupation’ from two-state solution resolution

A US House Democrat’s resolution in support of the two-state solution has been amended to remove references to the Israeli occupation and settlement activity, reports the Times of Israel. The amended bill also claims attempts by Palestinians to achieve statehood outside of negotiations with Israel as is unacceptable.

In April, California Democrat Alan Lowenthal introduced House Resolution 326, a symbolic resolution that reaffirmed the US’ commitment to resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through a two-state solution.

The original text highlighted “the special relationship between the US and Israel” and how the US “remains unwavering in its commitment to help Israel address the myriad challenges it faces.” It also mentioned the long history of US presidents seeking a two-state solution and how “delays to a political solution… pose a threat to the ability to maintain a Jewish and democratic state of Israel.”

Israel settlers set up mobile homes in Jordan Valley

Israeli Jewish settlers have set up mobile homes on the Palestinian lands in the Jordan Valley in the occupied West Bank, Shehab news agency reported yesterday.

Palestinian rights activist Aref Daraghma said that the mobile homes were set up in Abu-Qandoul neighbourhood, located in Al-Maleh Valley.

He stated that the settlers installed wires around an area called Al-Mirmala, to which the settlers opened a street a couple of days ago.

British MPs condemn killing of Palestinian medics by Israel forces in Gaza

A number of British Members of Parliament have slammed the killing of Palestinian medics at the hands of Israeli forces in the occupied Gaza Strip.

On 15 July, an Early Day Motion (EDM) entitled “Health Workers in Gaza” was tabled in Parliament.

The EDM begins with a condemnation of “the killing of healthcare workers in Gaza and in particular the recent killing of Gaza paramedic Mohammed Al-Jedaili”, who, the motion adds, was “the fifth Palestinian health worker to be killed by Israeli forces in just over a year”.

The motion then “notes that according to the World Health Organisation more than 750 health workers in Gaza were also injured between 30 March 2018 and 31 May 2019.”

The context for the timeframe is the Great March of Return, and the efforts taken by Israeli forces to violently suppress its associated demonstrations.

Ilhan Omar introduces resolution upholding right to boycott

In the face of sustained attacks by US authorities on the right to engage in boycotts against Israel, Congress member Ilhan Omar introduced a resolution on Tuesday that seeks to protect that right.

She also explicitly offered her support for BDS, the nonviolent boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign that aims to pressure Israel to respect Palestinian rights the way similar global grassroots pressure helped end apartheid in South Africa.

Palestinian boycott campaigners welcomed Omar’s resolution.

“It affirms the right of all activists and people of conscience to advocate for human rights through boycotts against systems of oppression,” Hind Awwad, spokesperson for the Palestinian BDS National Committee said.

The friends I lost to Israel’s bombs and bullets

Two days later – 15 December 2001 – Israeli forces invaded Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza.

Yousif’s cousin approached me around noon that day and immediately told me that Yousif had been killed. An Israeli soldier had shot him in the head. Yousif was two weeks shy of his 11th birthday.

It was the first time that a friend of mine had died. I had no idea how to express myself, especially given that our last conversation had been an argument.

So I just stayed silent.

Yousif was killed on the eve of Eid al-Fitr. When I went to his funeral, his mother Aisha wept as she showed us the clothes Yousif had planned to wear at Eid.

Omar to Introduce Resolution Declaring Support for Anti-Israel BDS Movement Featured

Representative Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) will introduce a resolution this week declaring support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which seeks to elevate the Palestinian negotiating position vis-a-vis Israel through an international pressure campaign.

“We are introducing a resolution . . . to really speak about the American values that support and believe in our ability to exercise our first amendment rights in regard to boycotting,” Omar told Al-Monitor. “And it is an opportunity for us to explain why it is we support a nonviolent movement, which is the BDS movement.”

When Israel bombed disabled Palestinians

Nasser al-Buhaisi had just graduated from college.

The 22-year-old obtained a degree in religious law from Gaza’s Al-Azhar University during June. One day later, he died.

Al-Buhaisi had been paralyzed due to a road accident in 2006. He had studied hard despite being in intensive care.

His determination made me reflect on the situation facing people with disabilities in Gaza. The situation is never easy but becomes far more difficult when Israel attacks vital services – as it did a few months ago.

EXCLUSIVE: Married Israeli politician Ehud Barak is seen hiding his face entering Jeffrey Epstein's NYC townhouse as bevy of young beauties were also spotted going into mansion - despite his claim he NEVER socialized with the pedophile and his girls

The ever-expanding probe into Jeffrey Epstein’s pedophile ring is now threatening to derail the Israeli election as DailyMail.com has obtained exclusive pictures of one of Benjamin Netanyahu’s main challengers hiding his face as he entered the convicted sex offender’s Manhattan townhouse.

A bevy of young women were also seen going into the multi-millionaire’s lavish seven-story home on the same day that Ehud Barak was snapped.

Barak, a former prime minister of Israel w now trying to make a comeback in Israeli politics, has long had business ties to Epstein, which Netanyahu’s team are now trying to exploit.

Israeli Jews question Palestinians’ loyalty and don’t want them in government — leading political scientist

Israeli Jews are overwhelmingly rightwing and do not want Palestinians in their government as ministers or part of the governing coalition because they question Palestinian loyalty to the state, one of the country’s leading political scientists says. Benjamin Netanyahu has the inside track to remain prime minister because he supports the “Jewish identity” of the state, she says. And anyone who expects a liberal Zionist to gain power is deluded. The left is a “marginal” factor in the Israeli election in September.

The only thing Palestinians and Jews in Israel agree about is: The Trump peace plan is going nowhere.

Israel and the assassination of Palestinian childhood

The Israeli occupation authorities have transformed the images of joy, play and education that should be the norm for Palestinian children into a shocking number of violations committed by the army against them in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Around 1.3 million Palestinian children in the West Bank are affected daily by Israel’s policy of arrest and detention, as well as attacks by gunfire, beatings and illegal settlers. Another 1 million children in Gaza are considered to be the most affected by the restrictions imposed by the occupation. This includes the siege, aggression and multiple military offensives. Children under the age of 15 make up 42 per cent of the entire population in the Gaza Strip; Israel has basically assassinated their childhood.

Israel’s Latest ‘Security Problem’: Who’s to Blame for Gaza’s Environmental Crisis

Writing in The Jewish Journal under the title, “A Spillover Crisis: How Gaza’s Water Shortage Affects Israel”, Dominik Doehler explains the direct link between Gaza’s water problems and Israel.

Doehler offered a scientific explanation behind the besieged Strip’s water crisis, but when it was time to assign responsibility, something went wrong. Instead of recognising how Israel’s war and protracted siege destroyed Gaza’s infrastructure, the writer blamed the “ongoing conflict between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority” for Gaza’s suffering.

“Today, those who pay the price of the conflict between the Palestinian factions are the two million people in Gaza,” Doehler writes, without any mention of Israel’s primary role in any of this.

Why are progressive Democrats backing an anti-BDS bill that was introduced at an AIPAC conference?

On July 17, the House Foreign Affairs Committee will begin to mark up a number of measures including a resolution that condemns the Global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS Movement). Despite concerns about the bill being constitutional, it’s currently supported by 70% of the Democratic Caucus.

AIPAC and friends slam IfNotNow as ‘anti-Israel’ for asking Democratic candidates about ‘the occupation’

As we reported, the young Jews of IfNotNow are doing what many activists have long called for: they are making Palestine an issue in the Democratic race by posting videos of young people asking candidates if they would bring pressure on Israel to end the occupation. The group has gotten evasive answers from Joe Biden and Beto O’Rourke; a No from Cory Booker; a Yes from Pete Buttigieg; and nervous affirmation from Elizabeth Warren.

The big surprise of the IfNotNow campaign is how much rage it is provoking from the Israel lobby, which has long had a place inside the Democratic Party.

The group Democratic Majority for Israel has issued a “WARNING” to Democratic candidates that a “strongly anti-Israel organization” is having young people “run up to” candidates and ambush them with an occupation question, before “trumpet”-ing the politicians’ answer on-line. (Ah, democracy.)

The difficult passage from a two-state solution to decolonization in Palestine/Israel

It’s happening, but slowly. Surveying the special issue of the Palestine-Israel Journal devoted to the threat that the hallowed two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict may be in jeopardy – or, as the issue’s title has it, “at a dangerous crossroads” – one gets the feeling of half-hearted, almost desperate assertions that the two-state solution is the only plausible one.

‘In US universities students who criticise Israel are under attack’

Throughout history, students have been at the forefront of important movements advocating for fundamental changes in society.

In the 1970s and 1980s, the anti-apartheid movement gained traction on university campuses in the UK and the US, with various demonstrations taking place and calls to divest from companies doing business in apartheid South Africa. At the University of California, Berkeley, students were successful in campaigning for divestment, and in 1986 the university voted to withdraw $3.1 billion worth of investments in the apartheid state.

An American-Israeli businessman has been granted permission to export oil extracted from Kurdish areas under the control of Syria’s pro-Washington Democratic Forces. Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, which published the story said its claim was based on leaked documents. Kahana however has swiftly came out to reject the story but admitted to Israel Hayom that he has in fact tried to end Syrian oil sales to Iran. On his Facebook page, Kahana wrote that he opposes the Iranian presence in Syria, which he says belongs to the Syrian people.

It “will further undermine what Israel has long prided itself on having accomplished: keeping Israel an issue that receives bipartisan support in the halls of Congress”, Katz continued.

Palestinians Losing 60 Million Work Hours Per Year

Palestinians lose about 60 million hours of work per year, due to check points and restrictions imposed, by the Israeli occupation, on Palestinian movement between the towns and villages of the West Bank, the Applied Research Institute (ARIJ) reported Monday, according to Al Ray.

ARIJ estimated the loss at about $ 270 million per year, according to the wage of workers per hour, in addition to extra fuel consumption at about 80 million liters per year, estimated at $ 135 million.

The consumption of the vehicle, which runs at a very low speed for long periods (1 – 10 km / h), according to certain calibrations, is about 0.049 liters / minute and 0.035 liters / minute for diesel engines and gasoline, according to the Institute.

The consumption of this amount of fuel leads to an increase in carbon dioxide emissions, by about 196 thousand tons per year.

THE LONG AND UGLY HISTORY OF ZIONISM

The history of Zionism begins with contacts to the most violent ideologies, the most racist regimes and dictatorships and continues to this day as a thread through history. Rarely is it pointed out that Zionism is the official colonial settler colonial ideology of the “Jewish state”, which by definition is a thoroughly anti-Semitic ideology. Just the terms Israel as the “Jewish state” of the “Jewish people” or the audacity to speak out of this definition for all Jews worldwide. Not to mention the Zionist claim to call the illegal settlement policy and colonization of the state “Jewish value”. These “values” have always been based on the cooperation and support of fascist, right-wing and anti-Semitic, racist regimes and persons.

US, Iran Send Conflicting Signals on Possible Missile Talks

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has claimed that Iran has signaled a willingness to negotiate on the matter of ballistic missiles. Other US officials aren’t so sure, and Iranian officials are also telling conflicting stories on the matter.

“Iran’s missiles are absolutely and under no condition negotiable with anyone or any country,” insisted Alireza Miryousefi, the spokesman for Iran’s UN Mission. That is certainly the position Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has long taken.

Yet Pompeo’s belief that talks are possible didn’t come out of thin air. Rather, Foreign Minister Javad Zarif suggested in the US was willing to cut off arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, Iran’s missiles might also be up for negotiation.

That’s probably a non-starter,with President Trump so obsessed with growing arms sales, but does point to a grand bargain potentially being on the table, if both sides want it. The problem is, neither side is being very clear if they want it or not.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Any possibility of a real deal, will most likely be scotched by Pompeo and Bolton, who both would rather see the US at war with Iran for Israel, than any move toward accommodation and threat-reduction.

And there is is something both gentlemen are really good at not seeing; this is The "Russian Option", and made very clear through the announcement of one top Russian official a couple of weeks ago: Zamir Kabulov: the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, has said that Iran will not be alone, if the US attacks it.

Jeffrey Epstein Allegedly Bankrolled Ex-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s Tech Startup, Israel Media Reports

Ehud Barak, who defeated Benjamin Netanyahu in a 1999 election to become Israel's prime minister, has been linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Less than three weeks after announcing that he will come out of political retirement to challenge Benjamin Netanyahu for prime minister in the upcoming Israeli elections, as YNet News reported, former prime minister Ehud Barak is facing allegations that he is financially tied to convicted sex offender and shadowy financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to a sexual offense with a 14-year-old girl, and was arrested again on July 6 on new sex trafficking charges. Barak, a former lieutenant general in Israel’s army, served as Israel’s 10th prime minister from 1999 to 2001, after defeating Netanyahu, who was then serving his first term as Israeli PM.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These allegations may well be the KOD (Kiss of Death) for Barak's campaign to serve Israel as prime minister again.

HOW ISRAELI-DESIGNED DRONES BECAME RUSSIA’S EYES IN THE SKY FOR DEFENDING BASHAR AL-ASSAD

How Israeli-designed drones ended up supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is a case study in the complicated relationship between Israel and Russia. Though Russia has been instrumental in protecting the Assad government, which appeared to be on the brink of collapse four years ago, it has also carefully cultivated a military relationship with Israel over the past decade.

After more than seven years of war, the skies over Syria are saturated with aircraft from multiple militaries and armed groups, each pursuing their own goals, including using the country as a weapons-testing ground. American airpower and Kurdish ground forces helped grind the Islamic State’s caliphate down to a tiny pocket before it dramatically collapsed this past spring. Meanwhile, Turkish occupation forces and their proxies are conducting a brutal campaign of repression in the Syrian-Kurdish canton of Afrin.

TRUMP MAY APPOINT FRINGE NEOCON TO HEAD INTELLIGENCE

It keeps getting worse. The neocons have burrowed termite-deep inside the Trump administration and rumor has it the president will add yet another one to an important cabinet position.

If there is any substance to the latest rumors, DNI Dan Coats will be replaced by Fred Fleitz, former NSC executive secretary, CIA analyst, Trump Chief of Staff, Bolton enforcer, and CEO of the Center for Security Policy.

This last one should send up a huge red flag. CSP is a project launched by Frank Gaffney Jr., an Islamophobe way out on the neocon fringe. During the Trump presidential campaign, I wrote a short ebook (Donald Trump and the War on Islam) about Gaffney, among other neocons and rabid Israel-firsters exacting a corrosive influence on the Trump campaign.
I wrote:

Webmaster's Commentary:

What is terrifying about so many of these Presidential appointments, is that President Trump is so surrounded by ultra-Rightists, who pathologically cannot distinguish between what is good for the US, and what may be good for Israel, that they may push this country into an absolutely wrong decision regarding Iran.

War with Iran?!? I am sure that Gaffney believes that this will be good for Israel, so he will be very motivated to encourage President Trump to engage in such a war.

There is, of course, one tiny problem with that stance; if the US invades Iran, what will Russia do?!?

The hard, real truth, is that Russia will continue its friendship with Iran, and will not be deterred by US military action taken.

The US has seen what Russian equipment and troops can do, in their getting the US-trained and funded jihadis out of Syria. By attempting to invade Iran, the US will have the opportunity to get clobbered again, as the US military does not have the weaponry; the troop strength; the money; or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to such a conflict with Russia right now.

Mr. President, were I you right now, I would hedge my bets in terms of taking any actions against Iran, other than what you have already done, economically. And please remember the following, stated by a Russian Diplomat on 26 June, 2019: Zamir Kabulov says Iran will not stand alone, if attacked by the US

Mr. President, I do no believe that Kabulov was "bluffing" when he made that statement; I would, therefore, strongly encourage you to please take that into account.

Netanyahu compares EU approach to Iran with ‘appeasement’ of Nazi Germany before WWII

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has compared Europe’s attitude to Iran with the 1930s appeasement of Nazi Germany, after the EU foreign policy chief said Tehran’s enrichment breach wouldn’t trigger the Iran deal’s dispute mechanism.

The EU’s high representative Federica Mogherini said on Monday that the bloc did not regard Tehran’s recent breaches of the 2015 nuclear deal as being “significant” enough to set an official dispute in motion.

Mogherini said that none of the remaining parties to the accord had signaled any intention to invoke the JCPOA’s dispute article, which means that, so far, “none of them” think that Iran’s non-compliance “is considered to be significant non-compliance.”

Netanyahu lashed out at Europe’s response, saying in a video statement that it was even comparable to appeasement and failed diplomacy with Nazi Germany before the outbreak of World War II.

When Ancient DNA Gets Politicized

The logic here for those who had read the study was confusing. The new research had nothing to say about the genetic history of Jews or Palestinians or the connection those modern populations have to the land. (Though the word "Palestinian" comes from "Philistine," Palestinians are not thought of as the descendants of Philistines; it appears that Netanyahu was using this unrelated point to launch into his argument.)

Poof! One day in occupation causes young Jews on Zionist tour to question Zionism — ‘NYT’ reports

We are as critical of the New York Times as anyone, but we need to salute the superb report in the newspaper by David Halbfinger on a liberal Zionist trip for American Jews to see the occupation. Titled, “Touring the Israeli Occupation: Young U.S. Jews Get an Unflinching View,” the July 10 article offered horrifying glimpses of Palestinian conditions in Susiya and Hebron that left the young Jews staggered.

The article was about a very lukewarm tour of the occupation indeed, by the Zionist group J Street, which wants the visitors to engage in Israel advocacy back home, and wants to influence the more rightwing Jewish trips to Israel, notably Birthright, to stop off in Palestine.

But the thrust of the article was that one day’s exposure to the desolation of occupation caused two young Jews to question Zionism itself.

Benny Morris: Israel’s Concealing of Nakba Documents Is Totalitarian

Who gave the order and is the operation legal? These are the questions that remain after Hagar Shezaf’s excellent investigative report in Haaretz a week ago: “Burying the Nakba: How Israel Systematically Hides Evidence of 1948 Expulsion of Arabs.”

Shezaf outlines how, since the mid-2000s or early 2010s, Malmab, the Defense Ministry’s secretive security department, has systematically culled from Israeli archives documents that paint the state’s conduct toward Palestine’s Arabs, particularly during the 1948 war, in bleak colors. In vaults, it hides away documents describing expulsions and massacres by various pre-state militias and then Israeli soldiers during that war and in subsequent years.

The will of an enemy that apologises will break

We have grown accustomed to the enemy’s threats to retaliate and its assertion of the concept of deterrence. We have monitored Israel’s behaviour for decades and found that it relies on its air force — its long arm — and its special forces, which work behind the lines constantly to prevent the establishment of various power bases that might pose a threat to its security and existence.

By means of its weapons, the determination of its people and their faith and willingness to make sacrifices, this enemy recoils, hesitates and apologises. The statement made by the Israeli army spokesperson this week about the “misunderstanding” which led to a Hamas operative being shot dead in Gaza was, to all intents and purposes, an apology to the resistance made out of fear of its response. It is the nearest the Israelis will come to making an outright apology. However, the Zionist spokesperson has not changed, though, and will not do so; it is the Palestinians who have changed.

Cutting ties with Israel might be impossible due to international complicity

UN Special Rapporteur Michael Lynk has suggested that the international community should consider cutting ties with Israel if it goes ahead with further colonial settlement expansion and annexation, according to a report by Al Jazeera. Non-binding requests or suggestions from the UN, however, are unlikely to go beyond rhetoric, given the international community’s political investment in Israel and complicity in the colonial occupation itself.

Had Israel been a country marked for foreign intervention, the international community would have no qualms about implementing Lynk’s suggestions. However, the persistent, non-binding nature of UN recommendations will only serve to create further ambiguous discourse when it comes to Israel and human rights violations.

Under pressure from Zionists, church cancels Palestinian youth event

Under pressure from Israel lobby groups, a Canadian church canceled an event celebrating a scholarship award in honor of the iconic Palestinian writer Ghassan Kanafani.

The event, organized by the US-based Palestinian Youth Movement, was scheduled to be held at Trinity St. Paul’s United Church in Toronto on 13 July.

Kanafani, a communist, intellectual and novelist, was a spokesperson for the Marxist-Leninist PFLP party. He was murdered by an Israeli Mossad car bomb in Lebanon in July 1972.

Along with the extremist Jewish Defense League, which has a long history of violent threats, racism and harassment against Palestinian activists in Canada, Israel advocacy group B’nai Brith Canada bragged about its role in the cancellation and smeared Kanafani as a “terrorist.”

B’nai Brith said it would “continue to investigate” PYM’s scholarship program and threatened that it will “take all possible steps to thwart it.”

Illegal Israeli Colonists Occupy Palestinian Irrigation Wells

Several illegal Israeli colonialist settlers invaded, Friday, Khirbat Samra Palestinian village, in the West Bank’s Northern Plains, and occupied irrigation wells.

Palestinian human rights activist, Aref Daraghma, said the colonists, occupied all the Palestinian wells, and prevented the farmers from using them, before using the water for their cows.

Daraghma added that the colonists prevented the Palestinians from using the well to feed their sheep, and planted trees in Khallet Hamad area, near the tents of local shepherds, in preparation to occupy the lands.

The Untold Story of Christian Zionism’s Rise to Power in the United States

The largest pro-Israel organization in the United States is not composed of Jews, but of Christian evangelicals, with a total membership of 7 million, more than 2 million more members than the entirety of the American Jewish community.

Members of this organization, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), met in Washington on Monday, attracting thousands of attendees and featuring speeches from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Secretary of State and former CIA Director Mike Pompeo, Vice President Mike Pence, and National Security Advisor John Bolton. CUFI’s leader, controversial evangelical preacher John Hagee, has met with President Donald Trump several times and was recently part of an exclusive White House meeting in March on the administration’s upcoming “peace plan” for Israel and Palestine.

Palestinian Christian leaders protest sale of Jerusalem church land to Israeli settler group

Christian leaders on Thursday protested the sale of properties owned by the Greek Orthodox church to a Jewish pro-settlement group in mainly Palestinian areas of Israeli-annexed East Jerusalem.

Israel's top court gave final approval on June 11 to the 2004 sale of three buildings located in east Jerusalem's Old City to businesses linked to the Ateret Cohanim organisation.

The group works to "Judaise" East Jerusalem in its entirety by purchasing real estate in Palestinian areas through front companies.

TRUMP, BRITS TIRELESS IN ATTEMPT TO GET WAR ON IRAN GOING

SOURCE: KURT NIMMO
On Thursday evening, social media posts claimed the UK flagged and Japanese owned crude oil tanker Atlantic Pioneer had crossed over into Iranian territorial waters. According to the Marine Traffic website, on Friday morning the tanker was in the Gulf of Oman.

BREAKING: #UK flagged ship, #AtlanticPioneer, has officially entered recognized #Iran|ian waters. Time to see what Iran does, if anything. pic.twitter.com/gn05YCtUAe

— Evan McLean (@TheEvanMcLean) July 12, 2019

I don’t know if these social media reports are accurate, but considering the recent behavior of the US and Britain, I cannot discount it. The US, with the help of the UK, is attempting to goad the Iranians into taking action and thus providing a pretext to get the next neocon war going.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have this image in my head, of President Trump, meeting with his cabinet, and saying,"Damn! We can't lie the American people into another war; so what the hell do we do to get this party started, with some kind of false flag that the Americans might actually believe, as a justification for this war against Iran?!?"

Google reminds us with the following statement regarding Israel's next elections, as to just how critical they are in developing, and shaping, both national, and international Israeli policies:

"Snap legislative elections are due to be held in Israel on 17 September 2019 to elect the 120 members of the 22nd Knesset. Following the prior elections in April, incumbent and Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu failed to form a governing coalition, the first such failure in Israeli history."f

So am quite certain, looking at today's date (12 July), that Israel's Netanyahu, is burning up the phone lines from Tel Aviv to DC, impressing on Trump how damned short the time frame is, for getting such a war going, as to make Netanyahu look "butch" in anticipation of September's snap election in Israel.

I am equally as certain, that Russia's President Putin, and Iran's President Rouhani, are talking to each other about how to calm the situation down, and for Iran not to lash out, if there is an attempt at a false flag.

I'm looking at timing here. The last major summer holiday in the US, at the end of August, is Labor Day weekend, which this year, starts on Friday, 31 August, and lasts through Monday, 2 September. IF the US, the UK, and Israel cannot get a war on or before that point in time, so that the US media can fully indoctrinate the public with it; have it soak into the consciousness of both the American (and British) people before the first full week in September, it may well be too late for such an attack to begin to influence Netanyahu's re-election bid.

Biden declares that US relationship with Israel must be ‘ironclad’ regardless of who their Prime Minister is

On July 11, Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden gave a speech outlining his foreign policy objectives in which he stated that the United States must stand with Israel despite the disagreements some Democrats have with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Biden’s 40-minute speech was delivered at City University of New York and he spent most it vowing to renew the diplomacy of the Obama era, contrasting the previous approach with Trump’s “America First” technique. He vowed to rejoin the Paris climate accords and the Iran nuclear deal. Additionally, he called for an end to the United States’ involvement in “forever wars” although he never mentioned that he voted in favor of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq when he was a Senator.

Report: Jeffrey Epstein ‘entered partnership worth millions’ with former Israeli PM Ehud Barak in 2015

From Haaretz, "Revealed: Jeffrey Epstein Entered Partnership Worth Millions With Ehud Barak in 2015":

The American billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein, a registered sex offender who was arrested this week on new sex-trafficking charges involving underage girls, partnered with former Prime Minister Ehud Barak to invest in the former prime minister’s startup.

In 2015 Barak set up a limited partnership, in which he is the sole shareholder. That company invested in Reporty Homeland Security, established in 2014, becoming a major shareholder. Last year Reporty changed its name to Carbyne. The company develops call-handling and identification capabilities to for emergency response services.

Barak is the chairman of Carbyne and according to reports by business media outlets, his personal investment in the company totals millions of dollars in it. Haaretz has learned that Epstein financed a considerable part of the investment, thus becoming a partner in the project.

Israel’s Barak, US sex trafficking suspect Epstein ties exposed

Former Israeli Prime Minister and election candidate Ehud Barak held a multi-million-dollar business partnership with Jeffrey Epstein, the US billionaire who was this week arrested for sex trafficking underage girls.

According to an exposé yesterday by Israeli daily Haaretz, Barak – who served as Israel’s Prime Minister between 1999 and 2001 and recently announced his formation of a new party, Democratic Israel, ahead of the country’s general election in September – held business ties with Epstein as recently as 2015.

Epstein is a US billionaire who made his fortune on Wall Street and is known to have close relationships with influential political figures, including former US President Bill Clinton and current US President Donald Trump.

Rashida Tlaib denounces US’ anti-BDS bill ‘unconstitutional’

US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib took a swipe at American lawmakers who are seeking to criminalise the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, in a tweet denouncing the move as “unconstitutional”.

Tlaib, who is of Palestinian descent, made the trenchant remarks on Twitter while sharing an article concerning an Israeli park in the Galilee that has introduced measures which critics and human rights group say is reminiscent of apartheid South Africa. A non-Jewish lawyer and her infant were barred from entering the public park last week triggering a legal battle over whether local authorities in Israel can segregate citizens on the basis of race.

Israel military reporter: Gaza war ‘not far away’, will be deadliest yet

A new war between Israel and Palestinian factions in the occupied Gaza Strip “is not far away”, and will be “will be deadlier and more destructive than any previous” offensive, according to a report by the Jerusalem Post’s military correspondent.

According to the analyst, Israeli officials “have repeatedly said that any future war with [Hamas]…will have to have a clear and decisive win by the Israeli military so that the other side will think twice about going to war in the future.”

The Military Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Aviv Kochavi, “has already approved operational combat plans and recently set up an administrative unit to handle the formation of a list of potential targets in the coastal enclave for when the next war breaks out,” the Post reported.

Israel’s Blue and White chair Gantz vows no removal of settlers

Israeli opposition politician Benny Gantz, the leader of Blue and White Party and former military head, declared on Thursday that he does not intend to remove settlers from the occupied West Bank.

In radio interviews, Gantz affirmed that his party is in favour of “striving for an agreement” so long as it is based on “strict adherence to the security arrangements and, of course, our historical right to the State of Israel, the Jordan Valley, the settlement blocs, and of course Jerusalem”.

“There is no return to the 1967 lines,” he added.

Gantz also clarified that any “arrangement” that emerges in the context of peace talks would ultimately be “brought to the people for decision” (i.e. a referendum).

The US administration and fanatic Zionism

For decades now, the Palestinians have been looking for an ‘honest peace broker’ to bring an end to their suffering through a negotiated peace agreement with Israel.

However, the image of US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman beaming as he snuck into a tunnel under the Palestinian Jerusalem neighbourhood of Silwan with a couple of sledge hammers to join a settler ceremony to open the tunnel finally exposed the US team as neither honest nor a broker. In fact the image showed a dishonest team of breakers of international law putting peace further and further into the future.

What were Friedman and President Trump’s Special representative for international negotiations doing in the name of the American people who they are meant to represent? My own fears about the US team which also includes Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor on the Middle East, were raised back in 2017 when I saw this picture.

The extent of Israeli spying directed against the United States is a huge story that is only rarely addressed in the mainstream media.

Israeli Police Commander To TV News Director: ‘We Know Where You Live, Will Lie In Wait For You’

Israel is a democracy, right? That’s what all the press releases say, don’t they? But I wonder how those who praise said democracy to the skies manage to reconcile that with horror stories like the ones I’m about the recount.

Israel’s Channel 10 News ran a series on police violence and abuse. It featured incidents between citizens and police officers which escalated into extreme violence. Before it aired the national deputy police commander called the news director, Reudor Benziman, and threatened him and his staff with violence if it wasn’t cancelled. In fact, this very threat should be investigated as a violation of the law. When Benziman declined, the officer bellowed:

We too can act against you. We know where your studios are and your personal vehicles and we can [lie in] wait for you.

Battle underway in Ireland over ban on settlement goods

A battle is underway in Ireland to ensure that a ban on imports from Israel’s settlements in the occupied West Bank will not be vetoed.

Legislation to introduce such a ban has received majority support in both houses of Ireland’s parliament, the Oireachtas. Yet the country’s government is expected to try and wreck the legislation by invoking the little known “money message” provision.

“Money messages” rely on a clause in the Irish constitution which states that no law involving the expenditure of public finance will be enacted unless it has been signed by the taoiseach, the country’s prime minister.

A paper drawn up by Michael McDowell, a prominent Irish lawyer and politician, insists that the legislation banning Israel’s settlement goods does not require approval via a “money message.”

Ceasefire Over? Trump Demands New Sanctions On Beijing Over Iranian Oil Imports

Once again, it appears Robert Lighthizer and the Trump Administration's trade hawk faction have won over the more moderate advisors. Only a week ago, reports surfaced claiming the US might exempt China from Iran sanctions, for fear that the US would have no choice but to crack down otherwise (since Beijing has made clear exactly how it feels about Washington dictating which countries it can trade with).

Now, that idea, which was being pushed by senior State Department officials, has been abandoned, according to a Politico report. Instead, senior administration officials believe there's no avoiding the fact that Beijing has repeatedly violated the ban on importing Iranian crude.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No, Beijing isn't "defying" the US; it needs Iranian oil to prop up its industrial sector.

So what is President Trump going to do about it now, start boarding Chinese vessels, and interdict Iranian oil?!? Let's see now... isn't that tantamount to declaring war against China?!?

What is frustrating here, is that with the situations concerning both China and Iran, President Trump has managed to give himself no "wiggle room" for something positive to happen, and that, friends, is a "fantastic failure of imagination".

Britain Raises Ship Security Level to ‘Critical’ as Tanker Row With Iran Escalates - Report

Over the past two days, British oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and Persian Gulf have reportedly been spotted under escort by Royal Navy vessels. Although the reason for this has not been officially explained, the situation comes amid threats by Tehran to seize British ships in response to the arrest of its tanker in Gibraltar.

The UK Department for Transport has issued a recommendation to British commercial ships near the Strait of Hormuz to exercise caution and put their security in a heightened state in case they are approached by "aggressive" Iranian patrol boats, Sky News reported, citing anonymous sources.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let's throw in a little logic, shall we; why would Iran be so desperately attempting to "create an incident", when they understood that such an act would be the US/Israeli/Saudi Arabia "justification" for a shooting war against Iran?!?

The short answer is, they wouldn't.

Iranian leadership is many things; but stupid, it is not.

Netanyahu vows to retain every West Bank settlement

Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu pledged on Wednesday not to dismantle even the remotest Jewish settlement in the West Bank, in a message to settlers ahead of September's general election.

Israeli media had speculated that after US President Donald Trump handed Netanyahu valuable political prizes by recognising Jerusalem as Israel's capital and its annexation of the Golan Heights, Trump might expect concessions in return when he finally unveils his long-awaited proposals for Israeli-Palestinian peace.

"We shall not allow the dismantling of any settlement in any peace plan," Netanyahu told an audience at the settlement of Revava in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

15 years after ICJ declared Separation Wall illegal, West Bank barrier continues to destroy Palestinian lives

Tuesday July 9th marked the fifteenth anniversary of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) decision to declare the Israeli separation wall in occupied Palestinian territory as illegal under international law.

Israel began construction of the separation wall, known by many as the Israeli “Apartheid Wall”, in 2002 in the middle of the Second Intifada. Israeli officials said the wall was a necessary “security precaution against terrorism” from Palestinian attackers coming from the West Bank.

But with the construction of the wall, came unprecedented demolitions of Palestinians homes along the planned route, massive land confiscations, and the division of dozens of Palestinian communities along the Green Line.

Archaeologists on Twitter tear down Netanyahu’s claims that Palestinians have ‘no connection’ to homeland

Netanyahu went on to reference the Biblical mention of a place called Caphtor, thought to be modern-day Crete, where the Philistines allegedly migrated from before arriving in Palestine.

He went on: “There’s no connection between the ancient Philistines & the modern Palestinians, whose ancestors came from the Arabian Peninsula to the Land of Israel thousands of years later.”

“The Palestinians’ connection to the Land of Israel is nothing compared to the 4,000 year connection that the Jewish people have with the land,” the premiere concluded.

Palestinian activists and supporters were quick to tear down Netanyahu’s comments which they said were setting a dangerous precedent for the denial of Palestinian human rights.

Ali Abunimah, journalist and co-founder of the Electronic Intifada news website called Netanyahu’s comments a “warning sign of genocide.”

Entry ban at Israeli city park provokes apartheid warnings

The barring of a lawyer and her infant from a public park in the Galilee last week has triggered a legal battle over whether local authorities in Israel can segregate citizens on a racial basis.

Human rights groups have warned that the ban marks a growing trend by local authorities representing the Jewish majority towards explicit separation of public space in ways reminiscent of apartheid South Africa.

An Israeli court will have to decide whether it is reasonable for Afula, a city in the country’s north, to deny non-residents entrance to the main local park, which includes a playground, a small zoo, basketball courts and a running track.

The restriction amounts to a ban on Palestinian citizens from surrounding communities using a public resource, according to Adalah, a legal human rights group representing Israel’s Palestinian minority, one in five of the country’s population.

Israel isolates Palestinian universities

Israel is isolating Palestinian universities by forcing international scholars to leave their academic positions in the occupied West Bank.

Two Palestinian human rights groups, as well as Birzeit University, are calling on Israel to lift restrictions preventing international academics from working in the West Bank and to publish “a clear and lawful procedure for issuing entry visas and work permits.”

Israel’s policy of denying internationals entry to the West Bank, as well as refusing and failing to process visa extension applications in a timely manner, has affected dozens of scholars working at Palestinian universities.

Settler vandals call for death of Palestinian cleared of Israel girl’s rape

Illegal Israeli settlers have called for the death of a Palestinian who was wrongly accused of raping a seven-year-old Israeli girl, spraying graffiti on walls in his West Bank village and vandalising cars.

The graffiti was discovered yesterday in Deir Qadis, a Palestinian village northwest of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. The village is home to Mahmoud Katusa, a 46-year-old Palestinian who was wrongly accused of raping a young Israeli girl and released last month after charges against him were dropped.

Written in Hebrew, the graffiti read “the death penalty is necessary for Mahmoud Qadusa,” while several cars parked in the village were also vandalised, the Times of Israel reported.

The Israeli daily noted that this is not the first such incident, pointing to an attack on the nearby village of Sinjil where cars were found with their tyres slashed and graffiti spray-painted on the walls read: “we give them jobs and they rape.”

Israel evicts Palestinian family from Jerusalem home, hand it to settlers

Israeli police this morning forced a Palestinian family out of their house in the Silwan neighbourhood of occupied East Jerusalem, WAFA reported.

Silwan-based Wadi Hilweh Information Centre posted a video showing occupation forces and settlers storming the house and assaulting the family members to seize their home. The centre reported that the Siyam family refused to comply with the eviction order and at least one family member was detained. Jawad Siyam is the director of the Wadi Hilweh Information Centre and was detained in Silwan along with three other Palestinians in the neighbourhood.

The Siyam family had been battling a right-wing Israeli settlement group for 25 years to remain in their family home. The Elad Association is notorious for its efforts to encourage Jewish settlement in Silwan, located just outside the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. Elad also confiscated money raised to help the Siyam family fight their eviction order, Haaretz reported on Monday.

Israel court overturns conviction of Jewish settler filmed vandalising Palestinian cars

An Israeli court has overturned the conviction of a Jewish settler filmed stoning Palestinian cars in Hebron, the occupied West Bank, reported Haaretz.

According to the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court judge, the decision was taken following a report by the probation officer claiming that the accused “takes responsibility for committing the crime”.

Instead, the right-wing activist was sentenced to pay 400 shekels ($112) in compensation to two Palestinian car owners whose vehicles were vandalised.

The case goes back to 2014, when settler activist Noam Federman and his son Oved “hurled rocks at parked Palestinian cars”, allegedly in response to having stones thrown at them by Palestinians.

Boris Johnson – the man likely to be Britain’s next prime minister – is widely seen as an elitist buffoon.

By searching a little, it is nonetheless possible to find at least one incisive comment that Johnson has made.

He has described the 1917 Balfour Declaration as “bizarre,” “tragicomically incoherent” and “an exquisite masterpiece of Foreign Office fudgerama.”

Johnson appeared to understand the absurdity of how Arthur James Balfour, Britain’s foreign secretary during the First World War, supported establishing a “Jewish national home” in Palestine, while pretending that the step would not harm the indigenous Palestinians.

Epstein case oozes into Israeli political mud as Netanyahu, Barak trade barbs

SOURCE: TIMESOFISRAEL.COM

Disgraced US billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, arrested on fresh sex-trafficking charges Saturday, was injected into Israel’s political scrum Sunday, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu highlighting Epstein’s alleged connection to rival Ehud Barak.

Epstein, a wealthy hedge fund manager who once counted as friends former US President Bill Clinton, Great Britain’s Prince Andrew, and US President Donald Trump, was taken into federal custody Saturday and is expected to appear Monday in Manhattan federal court, according to law enforcement officials.

One of the officials said Epstein is accused of paying underage girls for massages and molesting them at his homes in Florida and New York in the early 2000s.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Well, here is a little "gem' about the relationship between Ehud Barak and Jeffrey Epstein: Ehud Barak’s Name Found in Jeffery Epstein’s Address Book: the “Holy Grail” to Unraveling a Child Sex Network

The article goes on to state:

'Here’s what we know:

Jeffery Epstein is a known pedophile who is now facing new charges of sex trafficking minors

Epstein ran a series of brothels

The brothels were staffed by underage girls who would turn tricks for Epstein’s close associates

Ehud Barak is a close associate of Jeffery Epstein

The brothels were located in Epstein’s Florida and New York homes
Barak was photographed by the Daily Mail exiting Epstein’s New York home
At the same time, Barak was photographed, the photographer, Jae Donnelly, reported: “A steady stream of gorgeous women were spotted coming and going,”

Ehud Barak was circled in Epstein’s “little black book” '

In an FBI affidavit, Alfredo Rodriguez, Epstein’s former house manager, described an address book in his possession as the “Holy Grail” to unraveling Epstein’s sprawling child-sex network. Ehud Barak was one of the names in that book.

IF these allegations prove true, it could be a very unsettling time for Ehud Barak's party, trying to get out from under the coming bad PR right before snap elections.

I am also certain, that the more Netanyahu can get these charges substantiated, or appear to be substantiated, the better chances he has of winning Israel's national elections mid September.

So, what country's intel, makes it a practice of having compromising photos of American Congressional Members, and other business magnates, in order to "persuade them" to sign off on various pieces of US legislation, or give their country most favored trading status?!?

What country manages to get the US to create wars they want to see happen, but only at the costs of American blood, and American money?!?

What nuclear-armed country does not have a constitution, over 60 years after its founding?!

What nuclear-armed country has refused to sign on as a member of NNPT (which , BTW, Iran actually did!)

We all know the answer; that little "frenemy" in the Middle East, to whom the US government consistently gives weapons and money, even though it is illegal, under the Symington Amendment, because they will not sign on as participants to the NNPT Treaty; and people in the Middle East are beginning to notice, that no matter what the US government does for this country , it is never, ever enough.

The US, allegedly an honest broker for peace, can never be trusted again, and the Middle Eastern countries surrounding Israel, understand this.

ISRAEL MANDATES PROPAGANDA COURSE FOR STUDENTS TRAVELLING ABROAD

SOURCE: MINT PRESS
JERUSALEM, PALESTINE — While Israel tries to portray a friendly face to the outside world, internally it is promoting racism and violence at levels that are more alarming than ever before. A course to prepare young high school students traveling overseas to be good “ambassadors” stands in contrast to racist policies and the advancement of a military that is encouraged to exercise unprecedented violence against civilians.

YOUNG AMBASSADORS

Webmaster's Commentary:

This... is desperation on the cusp of madness, on the part of Tel Aviv.

The words, images, and pure lies offered here, have utterly no place in the reality emanating from Gaza; The West Bank, and East Jerusalem.

And I might just politely suggest that some of these students, in their travels, might meet people knowledgeable about the Palestinian plight, and perhaps may give some of these students their "Buddha on the Road" moment, to consider if the choices made by their government, relative to the Palestinians, have been moral; responsible; or, truly sane?!?

NETANYAHU THREATENS IRAN WITH ISRAELI PLANES THAT CAN ‘REACH EVERYWHERE’ IN THE MIDDLE EAST

SOURCE: RT

As tension mounts over Iran’s nuclear program, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Tehran that Israeli warplanes can strike anywhere in the Middle East, “including Iran and Syria.”

“Iran has threatened recently to destroy Israel,” Netanyahu said in a video clip posted on Tuesday. “It is worthwhile for them to remember that these planes can reach everywhere in the Middle East, including Iran and Syria.”

Netanyahu delivered his stern lecture while standing in front of an F-35 fighter jet at Nevatim Airbase in central Israel. The Israeli Air Force has used its warplanes to strike supposed Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria numerous times, most recently pounding the cities of Damascus and Homs at the beginning of July – attacks that left multiple civilians dead. Last year, Israel became the world’s first military power to use the next-generation F-35 in a combat operation, reportedly against Iranian targets in Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These threats, and counter-threats, are absolutely the last thing this region needs.

Netanyahu is pushing, and hyping, the Iranian threat, as though war was something Iran wants, or needs, militarily, which is absolutely not the case here.

Netanyahu understands this, but has been using the "fear card" against his own people for so long, that his behaviour has simply become pathological, at this point.

But faced with a snap election mid-September, his hope is that he can persuade/trick the US and possibly Saudi Arabia, to attack Iran, without personally, or nationally, having to pay either a political, or financial "price", and that he will appear to have "done something" to get him re-elected, no matter the costs to American and Saudi troops in blood and money spent.

We ran a story yesterday, from zerohedge.com, titled UAE's Yemen Exit is a Preparation for Confronting Iran Closer To Home

The fact that this repositioning is happening at all, telegraphs that the the Ziohawkonoids are attempting to move heaven and earth to start this war with Iran just as soon as possible.

There is, however, one 6,000 lb gorilla, napping, draped across the Bosendorfer Grand in this scenario, and that is the presence of Russia.

On 26 June, Foreign Ministry Diplomat, Zamir Kabulov, made the following statement: Iran won't be alone, if the US attacks

Egypt Seizes Tanker Carrying Iranian Crude

Tehran's threats of retaliation against the UK for seizing a tanker carrying Iranian crude oil for export have prompted a British vessel to shelter in the Gulf, but the rest of the world doesn't seem to be taking them too seriously.

Citing local press reports, Middle East Monitor said Tuesday that a Ukrainian tanker carrying Iranian oil as it passed through the Suez Canal ten days ago was seized by the Egyptian government, just as Egypt's State Security Criminal Court was sentencing six people to lengthy jail terms allegedly for spying for Iran.

Egypt is a staunch ally of the US, and as a Sunni-majority country, would naturally align with the UAE and Saudi Arabia in their efforts to contain Iran. Egypt also supports the Saudi-backed coalition in Yemen that is fighting to retain control in that country's brutal civil war. Cairo has condemned the Houthis for the recent spate of attacks on Saudi infrastructure that have inflamed tensions in the region.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With tensions escalating between Iran and Iran, and the US government reeling, regarding numerous problems on the horizon which have nothing to do with the current US government, (but involve some INCREDIBLY salacious actions by former members of this government, "Epstein-gate"), I have a sense that the Ziohawkonoids are going to push forward on a US attack against Iran, in terms of getting it going at the earliest possible opportunity.

Because if ever Washington's elite needed a war as a distraction from these nasty situations, it is right the heck now.

There is only one minor problem here; we may well be looking at Russia jumping into the fray on Iran's side, and, in fact, here's the following statement from a Russian official who essentially said just that:
Russia Says Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If US AttacksThe story goes on to state:

"“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow, reported The Moscow Times.

Now, I don't know about you, but if I were any members of President Trump's cabinet, or advisors, I would absolutely take this guy at his word.

Arab-Israel MK: Netanyahu using Iran tensions to stay in power

Arab-Israeli Knesset Member (MK) Yousef Jabareen has claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is using tensions with Iran to stay in power ahead of the country’s general election.

Speaking to British newspaper the Express, Jabareen explained that Netanyahu “will do anything to survive” Israel’s upcoming general election on 17 September, including overstating tensions with Iran and conducting “military attacks” on the already-besieged Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu’s prospects of re-election as yet remain uncertain, with the latest polls showing he could face a repeat of April’s outcome, when he failed to form a government after deadlocked coalition talks. Having been told he can only cancel September’s election in the event of extreme circumstances such as war, there is now speculation that Netanyahu could take drastic steps to avoid electoral defeat.

Israel issued 432 administrative detention orders in 2019

Israeli occupation authorities have issued 432 administrative detention orders against Palestinians since the start of 2019, the Palestine Prisoners’ Centre for Studies (PPCS) reported yesterday.

The PPCS’ spokesman Riyadh Al-Ashqar said that the number included 294 renewed orders and 138 new orders.

He noted that the orders ranged from between two and six months.

Al-Ashqar said that the continuous Israeli detention of Palestinian prisoners without trials is a clear violation of international laws and conventions.

Protests by Ethiopian Jews bring Israel closer to fragmentation

Israel has been in chaos since last month, when an Israeli police officer killed a young Ethiopian Jew in Haifa, suspecting that the young man and his companions had thrown stones at him. The incident sparked anger within the Ethiopian community, which insists that the police shoot its members too readily for racist reasons; this was not the first incident of its kind. Similar events indicate racist motives, leading to protests, some of them violent.

In the days following the killing of the young man, hundreds of Ethiopian Jews started demonstrating in different parts of Israel, particularly Tel Aviv, and closed some of the major crossroads. The protests expanded until thousands of people blocked other streets. Masked protesters set fire to rubbish containers and tyres; dozens of them were arrested, and some were injured.

African Group to UN: Hold Israel accountable for crimes against Palestinians

The African Group has called on the United Nations (UN) to hold Israel accountable for its crimes against Palestinians.

The African Group – sometimes known as the Group of African States – is a regional assembly within the UN comprised of 54 member states from the African continent. It represents 28 per cent of all UN members.

The group yesterday addressed the 41st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, Switzerland, one item of which discussed the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt).

The group’s representative, Andre da Conceicao Domingos of Angola, called for the international community to act to end Israel’s now 52-year-old occupation and the blockade it has imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2007, as well as to end Israel’s illegal settlement project, imprisonment of Palestinians and policy of collective punishment.

Israel to push mobile companies to improve settlement coverage

The Israeli government is set to press mobile phone companies to improve coverage for illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, reported business news site Globes.

According to the report, “one of the first tasks” for incoming Minister of Communications David Ansalem “is dealing with the poor mobile reception in Judea and Samaria [occupied West Bank].”

Greenblatt: US to reopen PLO office if talks with Israel resume

US Special Representative for International Negotiations, Jason Greenblatt, has said that the White House is to reopen the PLO’s office in Washington if Israeli-Palestinian talks resume.

In an interview with the Palestinian daily Al-Ayyam published yesterday, he said: “The PLO office in Washington can be reopened once negotiations are resumed.”

“The PLO office could have been kept open if it was involved in a peace process,” he said, noted that it was closed “because President Abbas threatened Israel with going to the ICC.”

Regarding the closure of the consulate in Jerusalem, he said: “We have a responsibility to American taxpayers. If we have a diplomatic mission in Jerusalem because we have now recognised that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, the presence of two diplomatic missions in Jerusalem is a waste of money from taxpayers.”

Kamala Harris supports segregation by supporting Israel

Harris was moving when she talked about how as a child, “my sister and I had to deal with the neighbor who told us her parents [said she] couldn’t play with us because we were Black.” She recounted that as a little girl, she was a member of only the second racially integrated class in her public school.

She touted her record fighting for civil rights as attorney general of California and defended the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act, and called for passing an Equality Act.

But whatever her record in the US, Harris’ support for freedom, civil rights and equality does not extend to one group of people systematically and violently denied them: Palestinians.

How Israeli influence is squashing free speech in Germany

The Bank for Social Economy is considered a relatively progressive bank in Germany because its customers are mostly civil society organisations.

Yet, when it comes to denying Palestinians the right to boycott the Israeli occupation and colonialism, I believe the bank violated the German constitution, by silencing a Jewish organisation that does solidarity work with Palestinian groups in Germany.

Last month, the bank closed the account of Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East, a Jewish solidarity organisation in Germany that won the 2019 Gottingen Peace Prize.

Spying for Israel Is Consequence Free

Back in the spring I wrote about coming across the name Arnon Milchan by chance on a movie credit while flying from Venice to Washington. Milchan, some might recall, is a Hollywood billionaire movie producer born in Israel, well known for such films as Pretty Woman and Bohemian Rhapsody. He is less well known for his role in arranging for the procurement and illegal transfer of U.S. technology that enabled the Jewish state to develop its own nuclear arsenal. Far from being ashamed of his betrayal of the adopted country that helped make him rich and famous, in 2011 he authorized and contributed to a ghost-written biography, which he boastfully entitled “Confidential: The Life of Secret Agent Turned Hollywood Tycoon.” Parts of the book were in the first person with Milchan telling his story in his own words.

SETTLERS STEAL MORE THAN LAND FROM PALESTINIANS

Nearly 250 left-wing activists who donated money to help a Palestinian family in East Jerusalem’s Silwan neighborhood may discover that their money has ended up with the right-wing group Elad, which seeks to evict the family.

Elad has obtained a lien on tens of thousands of shekels that the 241 activists donated for the Siyam family, on the grounds that the family owes it money. The lien requires an Israeli crowdfunding site, IsraelGives, to freeze the bank account where the money raised to help the Siyam family is deposited.

NETANYAHU USES DNA CLAIM TO DENY PALESTINIAN RIGHT TO HOMELAND

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday tweeted that the Palestinians’ connection to the Land of Israel is nothing compared to the 4,000 year connection that the Jewish people have with the land. He cited a recent article stating that Biblical Philistines had come from Europe, according to DNA uncovered in the coastal city of Ashkelon. His attempt to delegitimise the Palestinians’ right to their homeland was criticised by many as “race science”, which is often promoted by extreme right-wingers to justify ethno-nationalist policies.
