Israel prevents gas from entering Gaza and begins selling it to Egypt

The severity of Gaza’s humanitarian crisis is currently growing in magnitude, as a result of Israel tightening its 15-year long, illegal siege of the poverty-stricken Palestinian territory. Due to Israel’s restriction of gas, prevented from entering the besieged coastal enclave, the people of Gaza are facing a lack of sufficient heating, lighting, and the ability to properly deal with sewage, all this and more whilst their Arab neighbor, Egypt, is purchasing stolen Israeli gas.

EX-CIA Lawyer: The Soleimani Hit Was a Homicide Under U.S. Criminal Law

This is a high crime an an impeachable offence. Like I have said many times the opposition to Trump is a psyop.

In bragging that he ordered a successful hit on Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, President Trump has admitted to killing a senior government official of a sovereign state, Iran, while he was traveling in another sovereign state, Iraq. On its face, his conduct and intent satisfy the elements of premeditated murder under Section 1116 of Title 18 of the United States Criminal Code, "Murder or manslaughter of foreign officials, official guests, or internationally protected persons."

VFW demands apology after Trump claims traumatic brain injuries are not 'very serious'

The Veterans of Foreign Wars has demanded an apology from President Trump over recent comments in which he downplayed the seriousness of traumatic brain injuries suffered by American troops in an Iranian missile attack.

"The Veterans of Foreign Wars cannot stand idle on this matter," William "Doc" Schmitz, VFW National Commander, said in a statement Friday, noting TBI is a serious injury known to cause depression, memory loss, severe headaches and other symptoms in the short and long-term.

Hate crime numbers have been stagnant over the last few years. White people in particular are heavily underrepresented in this field, committing only about 25% of all hate crimes per year. High profile hoaxes, from the wave of bomb threats to Jewish centers to Jussie Smollett, have severely undermined the fictitious narrative intended to stifle discussions on immigration, finance, Israel and globalization.

Paper: 16 US Servicemen Flown to Kuwait Hospitals with Severe Injuries after Iran's Missile Strike

TEHRAN (FNA)- 16 US military men with fatal injuries sustained during Iran's retaliatory missile strikes on Ain Al-Assad base earlier this month have been taken to a hospital in camp Arifjan in Ahmed al-Jaber airbase in Kuwait, a leading Kuwaiti newspaper disclosed on Sunday.

The Arabic-language Al-Qabas paper quoted informed sources as saying on Sunday that the 16 US militaries, included some whose bodies had been severely burnt and some others who had sustained shrapnel wounds, have been transferred to a US military hospital in Kuwait under strict security measures.

It added that the wounded military men have gone under surgical operations and are still kept at the ICU section of the hospital.

According to the paper, several other US forces who had sustained mild injuries in Iran's missile strike are being treated in Iraq.

The US president and the Pentagon have both claimed that there has been no casualty in Iran's missile raid on Ain Al-Assad airbase.

Donald Trump and Israel: When Does a ‘Passionate Attachment’ Threaten National Security?

Philip Giraldi

December 12, 2019
In his Farewell Address, of 1796 America’s first president George Washington famously warned his fellow citizens that “…a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. Sympathy for the favorite nation, facilitating the illusion of an imaginary common interest in cases where no real common interest exists, and infusing into one the enmities of the other, betrays the former into a participation in the quarrels and wars of the latter without adequate inducement or justification.”

In today’s United States, there is no more “passionate attachment” than that which exists with Israel.

Is this what is going on behind the scene? The Yinon plan

“Greater Israel”: The Zionist Plan for the Middle East
The Infamous "Oded Yinon Plan". Introduction by Michel Chossudovsky

Introduction

The following document pertaining to the formation of “Greater Israel” constitutes the cornerstone of powerful Zionist factions within the current Netanyahu government, the Likud party, as well as within the Israeli military and intelligence establishment.

President Donald Trump has confirmed in no uncertain terms, his support of Israel’s illegal settlements (including his opposition to UN Security Council Resolution 2334, pertaining to the illegality of the Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank). In recent developments, the Trump administration has expressed its recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

“Greater Israel” will be part of the forthcoming March 2020 election campaign. Netanyahu has pledged to annex large parts of the occupied West Bank.

US seeking to carve out Sunni state as its influence in Iraq wanes

Published date: 23 January 2020 13:54 UTC | Last update: 1 day 5 hours ago

Backed into a corner and influence waning, the United States has in recent weeks been promoting a plan to create an autonomous Sunni region in western Iraq, officials from both countries told Middle East Eye.

The US efforts, the officials say, come in response to Shia Iraqi parties’ attempts to expel American troops from their country.

Iraq represents a strategic land bridge between Iran and its allies in Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.

According to chief Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman, half of the troops have returned to active duty, but the other 17 remain under medical observation, The Associated Press reports.

Initially, President Trump said that no troops had been injured during the Jan. 8 attack. When reports of the head injuries surfaced, the president downplayed the severity of the trauma, referring to them as "headaches."

You’ve got Northam, Saslaw and Filler-Corn planning on committing HIGH treason ‘against the guts’ of our Constitution, namely the Second Amendment, and once that goes, tyranny and enslavement are inevitable.

Trump needs to denounce these traitors, specifically by name, and have the appropriate law enforcement agencies investigate them.

When Trump speaks in generalities like, ‘The Democrats want your guns,’ it’s only to make him look good to his USA! USA! crowd.

It is ALL traitors, not just Democrats—on both sides of the political aisle—who want our guns.

They must be called out BY NAME or we will have no security or freedom left to our Republic.

America Escalates its “Democratic” Oil War in the Near East

by Michael Hudson exclusively for the Saker Blog

The mainstream media are carefully sidestepping the method behind America’s seeming madness in assassinating Islamic Revolutionary Guard general Qassim Suleimani to start the New Year. The logic behind the assassination this was a long-standing application of U.S. global policy, not just a personality quirk of Donald Trump’s impulsive action. His assassination of Iranian military leader Suleimani was indeed a unilateral act of war in violation of international law, but it was a logical step in a long-standing U.S. strategy. It was explicitly authorized by the Senate in the funding bill for the Pentagon that it passed last year.

Russia would annihilate US in a nuclear war

by Jonas E. Alexis

Oliver Stone once again should be commended for asking Vladimir Putin thought-provoking questions. Back in 2017, Stone asked Putin: “In a hot war is the US dominant?” Without hesitation, Putin responded: “I don’t think anyone would survive such a conflict.”

In other words, the Neocons, the war machine, ethnic cleansers in the Middle East, and probably even Donald Trump would not survive a nuclear war with Russia. That means that if Trump is even thinking about attacking Russia, then he is digging his own grave.

Politicians in the United States, said Putin, have been living in a crazy or diabolical world since the beginning of time.

Natural News Hacked & Attacked — Founder Mike Adams Reveals the Culprit

After two days of investigations involving several lawyers and a private investigator, we have identified the source of the attacks on Natural News. It turns out our original fears were not quite right. Rather than “cyber warfare,” it turns out that Natural News was the target of industry sabotage.

The source of the sabotage is the vaccine deep state, a secretive, fascist cabal of operators with ties to both Big Pharma and the pro-vaccine branches of the federal government (NIH, CDC, FDA).

Natural News has now learned that this vaccine deep state has gained control over a federal court and is now issuing secret, extrajudicial orders to tech companies that order them to disrupt or deplatform so-called “anti-vax” publishers and news organizations.

China To Ramp Up Shale Gas Production At Home

Despite the fact that United States President Donald Trump declared a truce between the U.S. and China in their more-than-a-year-long trade war in Switzerland this week, we shouldn’t expect to see a quick economic turnaround. The problem, as explained by The Hill in their article “Trump's 'phase one' deal with China won't undo trade war damage,” is that “the positive results of the deal remain on paper and in the future, while the damage caused by the bruising U.S.-China trade war will continue indefinitely.”

Trump’s Katyusha Conundrum

Katyushas are short-range, unguided artillery rockets typically fired in salvos from truck-mounted launch-tubes. Iraq’s insurgents deploy three types.

The smallest is 107 millimeters in diameter and 1 meter long. Its 19 kilogram weight includes an 8 kg high-explosive, shrapnel-bearing warhead. The 107mm is often fired from a 12-tube launcher, however, infantry-portable single-tube tripods are common. An experienced crew with a standardized weapon can hit a 400 X 400 meter target from 8 kilometers away. During the Vietnam War the US Army considered the 107mm to be their adversaries’ most formidable weapon.

The 122mm ‘Grad’ Katyusha is 3 meters long and weighs 75 kg. Its warhead spans a third of its length and weighs 18 kg. It has a 20-kilometer range and a 30-meter lethal radius.

220mm Katyushas hurl 100 kg warheads 30 kilometers.

This impeachment spectacle is Shakespearean in its scope: full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Nothing is the key word here.

Despite the wall-to-wall media coverage, nothing will change.

Mark my words: the government will remain as corrupt and self-serving as ever, dominated by two political factions that pretend to be at odds with each other all the while moving in lockstep to maintain the status quo.

So President Trump’s legal team can grandstand all they want about the impeachment trial being “an affront to the Constitution” and “a dangerous perversion of the Constitution,” but that’s just smoke and mirrors.

You know what is really “an affront to the Constitution”? The U.S. government.

True causes of the Uncivil War: Understanding the Morrill Tariff

By Mike Scruggs

Most Americans believe the U. S. “Civil War” was over slavery. They have to an enormous degree been miseducated. The means and timing of handling the slavery question were at issue, although not in the overly simplified moral sense that lives in postwar and modern propaganda. But had there been no Morrill Tariff there might never have been a war. The conflict that cost of the lives of 650,000 Union and Confederate soldiers and perhaps as many as 50,000 Southern civilians and impoverished many millions for generations might never have been.

A smoldering issue of unjust taxation that enriched Northern manufacturing states and exploited the agricultural South was fanned to a furious blaze in 1860. It was the Morrill Tariff that stirred the smoldering embers of regional mistrust and ignited the fires of Secession in the South. This precipitated a Northern reaction and call to arms that would engulf the nation in the flames of war for four years.

Eric Zuesse, originally posted at strategic-culture.org

U.S. President George Washington’s final words to his fellow Americans, upon leaving office, are now even more timely than when he spoke them, but have been ignored in practise for many decades; and the most recently published popular book about that speech ignores the most enduringly important part, so this part of Washington’s Farewell Address will be quoted from here, and will be placed into its historical context, so as to make clear what the central meaning in that speech is for our times, and for all times.

Claims That Iran Is ‘Close’ to a Nuclear Bomb Ignore Reality

A new round of alarmist reports on Iran’s civilian nuclear program, and possible weapons proliferation, are being publicized over the past week. As usual, this got its start in Israel, where military intelligence claimed Iran might have enough uranium for a single bomb by year’s end.

How an Israeli Spy-Linked Tech Firm Gained Access to the US Gov’t’s Most Classified Networks

f the networks of the U.S. military, the U.S. intelligence community and a slew of other U.S. federal agencies were running the software of a company with deep ties, not only to foreign companies with a history of espionage against the U.S. but also foreign military intelligence, it would — at the very least — garner substantial media attention. Yet, no media reports to date have noted that such a scenario exists on a massive scale and that the company making such software recently simulated the cancellation of the 2020 election and the declaration of martial law in the United States.

Secret Wars, Forgotten Betrayals, Global Tyranny. Who Is Really in Charge of the U.S. Military?

Once again we find ourselves in a situation of crisis, where the entire world holds its breath all at once and can only wait to see whether this volatile black cloud floating amongst us will breakout into a thunderstorm of nuclear war or harmlessly pass us by. The majority in the world seem to have the impression that this destructive fate totters back and forth at the whim of one man.

The assassination of Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, a true hero for his fellow countrymen and undeniably an essential key figure in combating terrorism in Southwest Asia, was a terrible crime, an abhorrently repugnant provocation. It was meant to cause an apoplectic fervour, it was meant to make us who desire peace, lose our minds in indignation. And therefore, that is exactly what we should not do.

“The conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. Global Warfare: “We’re Going to Take out 7 Countries in 5 Years: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan & Iran..”

Originally published in March 2007.

Global Research Editor’s Note:

This interview serves as a reminder regarding the diabolical timeline of America’s hegemonic project. Is Iran the next target “to be taken out”?

All these countries are on the Pentagon’s drawing board. These seven countries have directly or indirectly been the object of US aggression.

America’s hegemonic military agenda has reached a dangerous threshold: The assassination of IRG General Soleimani ordered by Donald Trump is tantamount to an Act of War against Iran.

The Islamic State as “Place-Setter” for the American Empire. ISIS is the Product of the US Military-Intelligence Complex

“ISIS” is a product of the US Military-Intelligence complex. The word itself connotes “ISlam”, and so from the very beginning the construct serves to create Islamophobia, which is a necessary pre-condition for the US Empire’s holocaust-creating footprint overseas[1]. War requires hatred and ISIS fits the bill. The fact that ISIS’ deeds are entirely anti-Islamic is of no importance.

Rita Katz[2] et al. beheading videos and domestic false flag terrorism all serve the necessary function of engineering consent for a War On Terror which features as its main star the West’s very own terror proxies – ISIS. ISIS itself is a false flag in the sense that whereas ISIS is the designated enemy, the psychological operation conceals the fact that ISIS is also us – they are the Empire’s foot soldiers.

Trump Murdered Soleimani Because He Was the Better Man

This was personal. Trump didn’t have Soleimani killed to stop a war, and he certainly didn’t have him killed because he had been planning an imminent attack on four US embassies. Trump, who had been thinking of killing Soleimani for the past 7 months, had Soleimani killed because he had convinced himself that Soleimani continuing to draw air was an affront to the US.

Soleimani had the best claim of anyone in the world for the architect of victory against ISIS and had likewise dulled and thwarted the US anti-Iranian agenda for the Middle East. And he was walking around as a living reminder of that and wasn’t above publicly ridiculing Trump.

Donald Trump’s Reckless Gamble with Iran Distracts from His Domestic Political Problems

“Don’t let Obama play the Iran card in order to start a war in order to get elected. —Be careful Republicans! Donald Trump (1946- ), 45th American president and hotel and casino owner, (statement made in a tweet, on Mon., Oct. 22, 2012)

I have long suspected that Donald Trump would do anything to save his political skin, and I mean anything, including murder and assassination — if threatened with impeachment, — and even commit an act of war against a foreign country. — Well, as I feared, he just did that against Iran.

Such is the level of public morality in the United States these days. It is pretty low. The cynical ‘wag-the-dog’ scheme is alive and well in the United States and it is used by unscrupulous politicians when they are in political trouble. Some people fall for it all the time.

Over the years, the United States government has waged a very aggressive campaign against Iran:

Trump Threatens to Kill Iran’s Spiritual Leader

Trump murdered Qassem Soleimani for “saying bad things” about the USG, according to The Hill. The president, gathered Friday at Mar-a-Lago with donors and supporters, also threatened Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader.

The so-called “Supreme Leader” of Iran, who has not been so Supreme lately, had some nasty things to say about the United States and Europe. Their economy is crashing, and their people are suffering. He should be very careful with his words!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 17, 2020

In other words, if the leader of Iran criticizes the USG for wrecking Iran’s economy and forcing hardship on the people through sanctions, he might find himself targeted by a Hellfire missile.

New Millennium Iran/Iraq War: US at War on Both Countries

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)

During the 1980s Iran/Iraq war lasting most of the decade, the US supported Iraq while wanting both countries to smash each other.

Today, Iraq is US occupied territory. Its prime minister, parliamentarians, and most Iraqis want Pentagon and allied foreign forces expelled, the Trump regime refusing to leave.

US war by other means on Iran has been ongoing for 40 years. Assassinating IRGC Quds Force commander Soleimani turned things hot. An unofficial state of war exists between both countries.

President Trump DID threaten Britain, France and Germany with 25% tariff on car exports if they did not wage diplomatic war with Iran over broken nuclear deal, German defense minister claims

By Jack Elsom For Mailonline

Donald Trump tried to strong-arm Britain and its European allies into waging diplomatic war with Iran by threatening to impose 25 per cent tariffs on their lucrative car exports, the German defense minister revealed yesterday.

The US President was piling pressure on Boris Johnson, Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron to formally accuse Tehran of violating the 2015 nuclear deal.

At a press conference in London yesterday, Germany's Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer confirmed reports of such economic threats and said: 'This expression or threat, as you will, does exist.'

A 25 per cent tax on cars would particularly hurt Germany, which exports around £23billion worth of vehicles across the Atlantic each year.

Blame Game Set for Va. Gov. Northam's Gun-Free Kill Zone

By James G. Robertson

The political battle lines have been drawn over Virginia governor Ralph Northam's declaration of an emergency kill zone on the Capitol grounds for Lobby Day, Jan. 20. As of Friday night, after a Virginia district court rejected a legal challenge to the governor's gun ban, the ban appears to be in place, unless a last-ditch appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court can succeed in overturning the ban this weekend.

As it stands, an area bounded by 9th, Broad, Bank, and Governor streets around the Richmond Capitol has been declared an emergency gun-free zone. One section of the appeal to the Supreme Court argues:

According to a new book, partly adapted in a Washington Post piece, that effort did not end well:

Pompeo Says Gangland-Style Hit on Soleimani Was "Restoration of Deterrence"

America’s “shadow president”, Mike Pompeo, has acknowledged that the assassination of Iran’s highest-ranking military general, Qassem Soleimani, was part of a broader strategy to restore “real deterrence” by eliminating presumed enemies of the United States. Pompeo’s comments at Stanford University’s Hoover Institute on January 13, put to rest earlier claims that the Iranian general had been killed to prevent “imminent attacks on U.S. targets.” Those claims have since been discredited by independent journalists and mainstream publications that have shown that the assassination was prepared months in advance. In truth, Soleimani was killed to roll back Iran’s influence in Iraq and to reverse the effects Washington’s catastrophic counterinsurgency operation that removed the mainly Sunni-Baathist party from power creating a vacuum that was filled by Iranian-backed militias. The Solemani assassination was just the latest transgression in a conflict that dates back 17 years.

The buildup is continuing despite what has been universally described in the media as an easing of tensions following the January 3 US drone missile assassination of Iran’s Gen. Israeli Puppet Trump Shows His True Colors

If you are still for Trump, then you are for the destruction of America,it's Constitution and Bill of Rights and WW3. He is a zionist puppet. The opposition to Trump is a psyop designed to keep his support high.

Retired four star Marine Corps General and former Secretary of Defense James Mattis was being kind when he wrote that President Donald Trump is of “limited cognitive ability.”

A less diplomatic observer who had been as close to the president as Gen. Mattis, might have said that he was of limited intelligence (though possessed of street smarts and cunning).

We saw Mr. Trump’s dim light bulb emitting its low wattage as he stood with American military officers spouting the same monotonous and risible talking points that emanate from the mouth of the president’s ventriloquist, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

HOW TRUMP REBELLED AGAINST THE GENERALS

In early 2017, just as Trump was inaugurated, we wrote how of an old power center theory that seemed to explain how Trump won the elections:

Seen from the perspective of power centers Clinton once had all the support she needed. But she then lost a decisive group due to her uncompromising neo-conned foreign policy. Here is an interesting take based on a theory from the 1950s:

[T]he power elite can be best described as a “triangle of power,” linking the corporate, executive government, and military factions: “There is a political economy numerously linked with military order and decision. This triangle of power is now a structural fact, and it is the key to any understanding of the higher circles in America today.”

Trump Steps Back From the Edge. Neocons Rage Accordingly

In Trump’s remarks the following day, the President stated: “Iran appears to be standing down, which is a good thing for all parties concerned and a very good thing for the world… ISIS is a natural enemy of Iran. The destruction of ISIS is good for Iran, and we should work together on this and other shared priorities.”

Although Trump’s speech characterized Iran as a “major supporter of terrorism” and Gen. Soleimani as a “top terrorist”, his assertion that a common interest exists between the USA and Iran in the combat of ISIS is a spectacular break from the neocon agenda.

Florida GOP Senate Leader Votes For Gun Control – Then His 2020 Democrat Skeleton Tumbles Out

We wish we could say the corrupt swamp only exists in D.C. Or that we only find in on the far-left of our government.

But that’s not the case.

What we discover from time to time is that the left can bribe or force Republicans to help them out.

So-called conservative leaders sell out their principles (literally) to push anti-Constitutional bills.

They hope these kinds of actions will slip by unnoticed. That Americans won’t call them out for their schemes.

But they are wrong.

This time, a Florida Republican was pushing a radical gun-control bill. One that few conservatives could support.

Director-General of the Syria Coroner’s Office Hossein Noufel disclosed that the body organs of thousands of Syrian civilians have been sold in the international black markets over the past six years.

He pointed to the high prices of human body organs in the black markets, and said, “A kidney is sold $10,000 in Turkey while the same kidney is sold for $1,000 in Iraq, but in Lebanon and Syria the price of each kidney is $3,000.”

With Suleimani Assassination, Trump Is Doing the Bidding of Washington’s Most Vile Cabal

While the media focus for three years of the Trump presidency has centered around “Russia collusion” and impeachment, the most dangerous collusion of all was happening right out in the open — the Trump/Saudi/Israel/UAE drive to war with Iran.

On August 3, 2016 — just three months before Donald Trump would win the Electoral College vote and ascend to power — Blackwater founder Erik Prince arranged a meeting at Trump Tower. Key Architect of 2003 Iraq War Is Now a Key Architect of Trump Iran Policy

Red Flag Nation: Anti-Gun Laws, Sanctuary Cities and the Second Amendment

Mark my words: gun control legislation, especially in the form of red flag gun laws, which allow the police to remove guns from people suspected of being threats, will only add to the government’s power.

These laws, growing in popularity as a legislative means by which to seize guns from individuals viewed as a danger to themselves or others, are yet another Trojan Horse, a stealth maneuver by the police state to gain greater power over an unsuspecting and largely gullible populace.

Seventeen states now have red flag laws on their books.

That number is growing.

FACT CHECK: It turns out there are almost certainly half a BILLION firearms in the hands of Americans right now… and Dems want to somehow confiscate them all

Not only will Democratic Leftists face a heap of opposition to any such edict, but they’ll also have to stare down lots of firepower as well. As reported by The Truth About Guns, the number of privately-owned firearms in America is staggering — many more than most people even know.

The website noted that one of the more popular gun estimate figures in the U.S. is 300 million, coupled with 12 trillion rounds of ammunition. But another estimate, first publicized in 2017, puts the figure much higher.

Jenn Jacques, writing at Bearing Arms in June of that year, noted:

I’ve also seen one that claims we have over 400 million guns and 24 trillion rounds of ammunition. The fact is, while there is no definitive way to tally all the firearms in the United States, it is commonly accepted and reported that there are roughly 300 million firearms in the hands of law-abiding Americans.

Lexington And Concord Redux In Virginia

Tragically, most Americans do not have any idea what it was that actually triggered America’s War for Independence. The primary reason was not “taxation without representation,” or taxes of any kind, for that matter.

“The shot heard ’round the world” in the pre-dawn hours of April 19, 1775, on Lexington Green, Massachusetts, was probably inevitable, but the causes of its occurrence cannot be denied. The primary mission of the British Crown that morning was to confiscate the firearms of the colonists in Lexington and Concord. It sent 800 military troops to fulfill that mission.

Warned of the approaching British troops by Paul Revere and William Dawes, a little over 70 men (mostly from the congregation of the Church at Lexington, pastored by Jonas Clark) stood on Lexington Green, muskets in arm, to face the troops. The rest, as they say, is history.

Reading Sun Tzu in Tehran

To completely avoid targeting soldiers at a large military base is no mean feat – it suggests an accuracy within a meter or two – not ten meters – for Iranian missiles.

Isn’t this the point? It suggests that advances in Iran’s guidance systems can land missiles with extreme precision.

The US bases around the region – in short – now represent vulnerable US infrastructure – and not strength. Ditto for those expensive carrier battle fleets. The Iranian message was clear and very pertinent to those who understand (or want to understand). To others, less strategically aware, it might seem that Iran pulled its military punch, and showed weakness. Actually, when you have just demonstrated the ability to upend the military status quo, there is no need for a hail of trumpets.

What’s the Point of NATO If You Are Not Prepared to Use It Against Iran?

Currently NATO is an anachronism as the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, but the desire to continue to play soldier on an international stage has granted it a measure of life support. Indeed, the alliance is regularly auditioning for new members. Its latest addition is Montenegro, which has a military consisting of 2,000 men and women, roughly one brigade. If Montenegro should be attacked, the United States is obligated to come to its assistance.

It would all be something like comic opera featuring the Duke of Plaza Toro but for the fact that there are certain things that NATO does that are not really defensive in nature but are rather destabilizing.
