Israeli airstrikes on Damascus suburbs put at risk civilian flight with 172 passengers on board – Russian MoD

Israeli strikes on Damascus suburbs put a civilian aircraft in serious danger and forced it to divert to Russia’s Khmeimim airbase as the Syrian air defense was activated to repel the attack, the Russian military said.

Syrian Army blocks US military convoy from important highway in Hasakah

BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:30 P.M.) – A unit from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) intercepted a military convoy of the U.S. military in the eastern part of the Euphrates River Valley after trying to enter a town in the Tel Tamr District of Al-Hasakah this week.

Our Military Is Clashing With Russians While Defending Syrian Oil. Why?

Trump seems to think it's okay to choose who controls resources and who doesn't in other people's countries.

Last month, American military forces physically blocked Russian troops from proceeding down a road near the town of Rmelan, Syria. U.S. troops were acting on orders of President Trump, who said back in October that Washington would be “protecting” oil fields currently under control of the anti-Assad, Kurdish Syrian Defense Forces.

Meanwhile, the Russians are acting on behalf of Syrian president Bashar Assad, who says the state is ultimately in control of those fields. While no shots were fired in this case, the next time Moscow’s forces might not go so quietly.

Turkey Demands Russia Stop Syria From Fighting in Idlib

Syrian forces enter al-Qaeda-held town or Saraqeb.

After the Turkish military attacked and killed scores of Syrian soldiers in the same area, Syria has launched a new offensive against al-Qaeda-held Saraqeb, and Syrian forces have reportedly entered the town.

Turkey is very averse to the idea of Syria taking any more territory from al-Qaeda, and Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu is demanding Russia immediately force Syria to stop all offensives in Idlib Province.

Cavusoglu said Russia must “immediately stop the regime,” and that Turkey considers Syria contesting these towns as a source of “humanitarian drama.”

Syria’s interest in Idlib, beyond it being part of Syria and just rife with Islamists, is that two towns, Maarat al-Numaan and Saraqeb, are on the main highway between Damascus and Aleppo. Syria would very much like full control of that highway, and having already taken the former town, they are pushing to take the later as well.

Webmaster's Commentary:

For Erdogan to be making these demands of Russia, it is obvious to me, that he doesn't know who he is dealing with, in Putin, and/or he has gone completely out of his mind.

I can understand why Damascus wants Idlib back, from a standpoint of
military control of the road linking Damascus and Aleppo, although the cost, in blood and money, is going to certainly be horrific.

Prayers, if you are so inclined to do so, that the civilian casualties will be as minimal as humanly possible.

Pragmatic agenda: Lavrov tours Latin America to foster cooperation, not to spite Washington

The Russian foreign minister’s three-day trip to Latin America has provoked nervous reactions in the US, where it is assumed to be part of an anti-American agenda even though Moscow has legitimate economic interests in the region.
During the trip that started on Wednesday, Sergey Lavrov is scheduled to pay one-day visits to Cuba, Mexico and Venezuela – setting the tongues wagging in Washington.

The Hill branded the whole trip a “show of support” for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, whom US President Donald Trump had just declared a “dictator” while offering support to self-proclaimed “interim leader” Juan Guaido.

Even Reuters has insinuated that Lavrov was “sent” by the Kremlin to Caracas to somehow “counteract” American sanctions. The standard line of mainstream media outlets seems to be that Moscow seeks to “strengthen influence in the region.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, please; this alleged "Russian menace" went out with the dribble glass and the whoopie cushion.

Russian business people are just that; business people, period, end of discussion. This is why Lavrov is traveling to these countries, to encourage more business ties and deals.

I would really appreciate it, if DC wouldn't insinuate "evil" in to everything the Russian government does; the Russian government is doing this to protect the people who hired them, by voting, to run their government.

Coronavirus food warning: PRICES DOUBLE in Russia’s Far East after Chinese border closed, vegetable supplies running scarce

By Jonny Tickle

Events in Russia's Far East rarely register on the global radar, but right now the remote region may serve as canary in the coalmine for dangers to food security if the new Chinese coronavirus goes global.
Prices of some products have doubled since Moscow ordered the closure of a series of border checkpoints last week. At the same time, supplies of vegetables have already started to dwindle, even though there is no official blanket ban on importing Chinese produce.

Speaking to Interfax, a spokesperson for Khabarovsk's largest retail chain Samberi confirmed that prices have risen throughout the Far East. The local Minister of Agriculture, Alexander Shkurin, told a government meeting that stores in the region have begun their search for alternative suppliers, including in distant Turkey.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, at the risk of sounding like a chipped CD, this horrific coronavirus issue should get you thinking about prepping, and right the hell now, if you have not already.

Potable water; storable food; medicines; a way to cook if electricity goes out, etc., etc.

One of the finest authorities on this, is a lady who I hold in very high esteem; her name is Daisy Luther, and if you have not either read, nor purchased, some of her very sage advice on this subject, please, do yourself a favor, and do so now.

This lady makes sense in a way that makes absolute horse sense, and her advice is completely easy to understand, and to follow through upon.

A NEW SPACE RACE? US, CHINA, RUSSIA, AND EUROPE ALL PLAN FOR MOON BASES

One year ago in January, a Chinese robot landed on the dark side of the moon. Since then, the Chang’e 4 probe and the Yutu-2 rover it carried onboard have been busy photographing and scanning minerals, growing yeast, hatching fruit-fly eggs, and cultivating cotton, potato, and rapeseeds in the moon’s low gravity, according to the Daily Beast.

Now, China’s National Space Administration is quietly planning to launch yet another probe into space. Chang’e 5 could blast off as early as this year.

Last year, TMU reported that the Yutu-2 rover came across a strange “gel-like” substance which the Chinese began to study extensively.

The Chinese space agency has continued to work on its Tiangong 3 space station and is planning on testing a new manned spacecraft for deep-space missions. That permanent station will reach orbit aboard the country’s new Long March 5B rocket in the first half of 2020, AFP reported. The mission will not be associated with the International Space Station.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The very clearly articulated desire of the US government to "weaponize space", concerns me deeply.

Space exploration should be a place in which all countries around the world should be cooperating, and not competing; humankind, as a species, is never better than when it works together to share information, and insights, to give us a better understanding of where we stand, in our little blue island of Light, relative to the rest of the universe.

MAJOR: Non-Issuance Of US Visas To Russian Officials Undermining United Nations

“We regret to state that the situation with the non-issuance of visas to Russian officials heading to the US on official business not only does not improve, it continues to deteriorate,” the foreign ministry stated, TASS reported.

“Despite numerous requests from our side and our calls to lift the restrictions, there are mass refusals to grant visas from the side of US authorities. This is a conscious and intentional policy of Washington,” it added.

Beyond Ukraine: America’s Coming (Losing) Battle for Eurasia

by Maj. Danny Sjursen, USA (ret.) Posted on February 06, 2020

Academic historians reject anything smacking of inevitably. Instead they emphasize the contingency of events as manifested through the inherent agency of human beings and the countless decisions they make. On the merits, such scholars are basically correct. That said, there was something – if not inevitable – highly probable, almost (forgive me) deterministic about the two cataclysmic world wars of the 20th century. Both, in retrospect, were driven, in large part, by collective – particularly Western – nations’ adherence to a series of geopolitical philosophies.

Syrian Army’s Offensive in Idlib Deepens Rift Between Russia and Turkey

Major strains are appearing in Russian-Turkish relations, particularly over the Syrian Army’s latest offensive against Turkish-backed jihadists in Idlib and Russia’s non-agreeance with Turkey’s support for the Muslim Brotherhood government based in the Libyan capital of Tripoli. Last week Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an made a massive outburst against Russia that has since only escalated. At the heights of relations, according to a November 2018 INR poll, 51% of Turks viewed Russia favourably. However, a poll published on Sunday by Turkey’s Daily Sabah found that only 16% of Turks trust Russia with the so-called mistrust because of Moscow’s Syria and Libya position.

Erdogan Says He Issued Ultimatum to Putin for Syria to Relinquish Gains or He’s Joining the War on AQ’s Side

I think Putin gave him an answer. His troops are now encircled.

Speaking to MPs from his party Erdogan said that in a recent telephone call with Putin he has issued a demand that the Russian President makes the Syrian army pull back to lines it held before the current Idlib offensive, as well as a preceding one carried out last August.

According to Erdogan he told Putin that if Russia will not make Syria retreat from its territory, the Turkish army and air force would. Again according to Erdogan’s word he has given the Russian president until the end of February to accomplish this.

‘Military Genius’ Erdogan Gets Hundreds More of His Troops Encircled in Syria

To stop the ongoing — and wildly successful — Russian-backed Syrian offensive Erdogan ordered hundreds of additional Turkish troops to pour into Syria’s al-Qaeda-held Idlib and put themselves in the way of the advancing Syrian army.

This first got 7 of his troops killed when the Syrians at night mistook the Turks for Islamist rebels, and now it has resulted in all of the new troops becoming encircled.

US BOOSTS 'GLIDE BREAKER' PROGRAM TO SHOOT DOWN PUTIN'S "INVINCIBLE" HYPERSONIC MISSILES

But after over the past two years both Russia and China have hyped their own advancing programs (Putin has touted that his Avangard hypersonic missile as “invincible”), which many analysts believe could be further along than the US program, the more pressing worry is how to defend against the nearly impossible to stop high-tech weapon. Hypersonic missiles, such as the kind Russia has lately tested, “are hard to stop, they can maneuver, they’re unpredictable” and “hard to detect” so “you don’t have a lot of time” to respond — Mike White, the Defense Department’s assistant director for hypersonics was quoted this week as saying.

Toward this end, the Pentagon is pursuing experimental interceptor technology designed to take out possible incoming hypersonics.

Artist’s concept of a hypersonic vehicle. DARPA Image.
The military analysis site Defense One explains of the developing program, still in its infancy:

Webmaster's Commentary:

The bigger question which needs to be both asked, and intelligently answered by both the US military, and the US military/industrial complex is, why does it appear that the US weapons programs so perpetually behind the proverbial 8-ball, compared to those of Russia and China?!?

Why are they spending less, and getting better results, more quickly, than are American weapons programs.?!?

I think every taxpayer in this country, should have the right to know the answers to those questions.

President al-Assad: The American presence in Syria will generate military resistance which will exact losses among the Americans, consequently force them to leave

He pointed out that the American presence in Syria will generate a military resistance which will exact losses among the Americans, and consequently force them to leave. “However, America cannot believe that it will live comfortably in any area it occupies. We remind them of Iraq and Afghanistan, and Syria will not be an exception.”

President al-Assad indicated that the immediate and most effective solution is to unite as Syrians and as patriots and this would cause the Americans to leave the Syrian territory.

Authored by James Rickards via The Daily Reckoning,There’s no need to rehash the sordid politics of the U.S.-Russia relationship since 2014. That relationship became collateral damage to gross corruption in Ukraine.

The Western provinces (Kiev, Lviv) are Slavic, adhere to the Catholic Church and the Pope in Rome, and look to the EU and U.S. for investment and aid.

Prior to 2014, an uneasy truce existed between Washington and Moscow that allowed a pro-Russian President while at the same time permitting increasing contact with the EU. Then the U.S. and UK overreached by allowing the CIA and MI6 to foment a “color revolution” in Kiev called the “Euromaidan Revolution.”

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych resigned and fled to Moscow. Pro-EU protestors took over the government and signed an EU Association Agreement.

In response, Putin annexed Crimea and declared it part of Russia. He also infiltrated Donetsk and Luhansk and helped establish de facto pro-Russian regional governments. The U.S. and EU responded with harsh economic sanctions on Russia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Rickards, dammit, you are better than this; in your idiotic spinning of what Russia allegedly did, you seem to be suffering from a very advanced case of selective memory disorder, or SMD, for short, a disease for which, sadly, there is no cure, other than swallowing a big, bitter gulp of the truth, and you appear to have a case developed far beyond its help for you.

When the US-sponsored coup happened in Kiev, President Obama confesses that he had been part of a deal to affect regime change in Ukraine the Crimean people knew that any possible moral, responsible government had been made impossible. So, the Crimean people did two things:

first, they had a referendum, asking the Crimean people if they wanted to stay with Ukraine, post -putsch, or petition the Russian federation to become a member. Crimean Status Refereundum

Overwhelmingly, the Crimean people voted to request that the Russian Federation accept Crimea as a member, which Russia did.

And Ricards, I would like to politely remind you, if your brain has become too pickled in your " KICKAPOO JOY-JUICE" you are attempting to get others to imbibe, by making this seriously flawed and false charge against Russia.that the right to peaceful self-determination is deeply embedded the language, and intent, of the UN Charter of the Rights of Man, to which the US, and Russia, are both signatories.

That move very much pissed off Ukraine and the US, even though it was the will of the Crimean people, and therefore harsh penalties as restrictions were placed against Russia... FOR SOMETHING IT ABSOLUTELY DID NOT DO, ANNEX CRIMEA.

When will you, and the others of your ilk, finally realize, that the "biglie" went out with the whoopie cushion, and the dribble glass?!?

SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

Poroshenko ‘most corrupt president ever,’ Hunter Biden’s board job may have been bribe for his father – UkraineGate documentary

ormer Ukrainian officials told a French journalist that President Petro Poroshenko was directly involved in corruption, and that Hunter Biden’s job at the gas company Burisma was a bribe to his father, the US vice president.
US President Donald Trump is currently on trial in the Senate, having been impeached by the House over Democrat allegations that withholding military aid to Ukraine over corruption concerns amounted to an abuse of power. Former Ukrainian officials and anti-corruption activists, however, have testified that not only was there corruption involving Burisma, the natural gas firm tied to former vice president and Democratic presidential frontrunner Joe Biden’s son, but that it went all the way to the top.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IMPEACHMENT’S BIGGEST ABSURDITY: OUR TOXIC FIXATION ON USELESS AND CORRUPTING UKRAINE AID

The temporary postponement of the Ukrainian aid was practically irrelevant considering that US assistance efforts have long fueled the poxes they promised to eradicate – especially kleptocracy, or government by thieves. A 2002 American Economic Review analysis concluded that “increases in [foreign] aid are associated with contemporaneous increases in corruption” and that “corruption is positively correlated with aid received from the United States.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Continuing to give money to a government which is, in its very essence, flawed by massive corruption from which it will not extricate itself, is stunningly stupid, and has to be stopped.

China’s New Coronavirus: An Examination of the Facts

Notable is that while SARS spread to about 40 countries, the infections in most countries were few and deaths almost zero, and it was exclusively (or almost exclusively) Chinese who were infected, those in Hong Kong most seriously, with Mainland China suffering little by comparison.
This appears to be precisely the case with this new virus, in that most of the infected persons (sofar) are Chinese. News reports speak of infections appearing in Thailand or the US, but those (at least to date of writing) were all Chinese who had been to Wuhan. There have been no cases so far of infected Caucasians.
.
As with SARS, this new virus appears to be tightly-focused to Chinese. At this stage it is too early to draw specific conclusions.

Trump Quietly Takes New Action Against Iran, Crushes Those Providing Concealed Support

The Trump administration quietly announced new crushing sanctions on Thursday against entities that have been providing concealed support to Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said, “Iran’s petrochemical and petroleum sectors are primary sources of funding for the Iranian regime’s global terrorist activities and enable its persistent use of violence against its own people.”

One of the entities sanctioned by the Trump administration was Triliance Petrochemical Co. Ltd., a Hong-Kong based broker with branches in Iran, United Arab Emirates, China, and Germany:

The other companies that were sanctioned were “Hong Kong-based Sage Energy HK Ltd.; Shanghai-based Peakview Industry Co.; and Dubai-based Beneathco DMCC,” according to The Wall Street Journal.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why is Iran being singled out for this kind of treatment?!?

Because Israel wants to see it broken up into little mini-statelets, with no power, and its oil getting controlled by Israeli/US interests.

And can someone, please, tell me, just how President Trump is going to enforce this?!?

I would like to politely remind him, and the others who crafted these sanctions, that interdiction at sea is tantamount to an act of war.

A-10 Warthogs Elephant Walk In Show Of Force, Weeks After 52 Stealth Fighters Taxied Down Runway

The U.S. Air Force (USAF) conducted its second Elephant Walk within weeks, this time with ten Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II fighters at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, located in Harrison Township, Michigan, said Defense Blog.

Elephant walks are generally conducted right before a minimum interval takeoff (MITO), a technique used by USAF to scramble all jets to take off at twelve- and fifteen-second intervals.

The objective of the exercise is to get all fighters and bombers in the air within fifteen minutes of an alert of an incoming missile attack.

Defense Blog noted that an Elephant Walk "is a fundamental training element when preparing for global strike missions."

The 127th Wing's motto is "We Stand Ready," as the latest training exercise suggests the A-10s could be preparing for combat in the Middle East.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have to wonder; was this exercise more for domestic, or international consumption?!?

Were I a betting woman, I would bet on the former, rather than the latter, because I am sure that Iran, working with Russian intelligence, has a pretty decent grip on the US's military resources.

Just please remember; in pushing for a war against Iran, the US is also pushing for a war against Russia.

Russia would annihilate US in a nuclear war

by Jonas E. Alexis

Oliver Stone once again should be commended for asking Vladimir Putin thought-provoking questions. Back in 2017, Stone asked Putin: “In a hot war is the US dominant?” Without hesitation, Putin responded: “I don’t think anyone would survive such a conflict.”

In other words, the Neocons, the war machine, ethnic cleansers in the Middle East, and probably even Donald Trump would not survive a nuclear war with Russia. That means that if Trump is even thinking about attacking Russia, then he is digging his own grave.

Politicians in the United States, said Putin, have been living in a crazy or diabolical world since the beginning of time.

RUSSIAN MPS CONFIRM MIKHAIL MISHUSTIN AS NEW PRIME MINISTER AFTER CABINET RESIGNATION

Mikhail Mishustin has been ratified as next Prime Minister of Russia by MPs, after the cabinet resigned on Wednesday. Vladimir Putin had earlier proposed Mishustin, formerly head of the Federal Tax Service, as a candidate.

Mishustin has already promised a major cabinet reshuffle, meaning that some fresh faces could emerge as new ministers. The incoming government must hold personal responsibility for the decisions they take to help economy grow, Mishustin told MPs ahead of the confirmation vote.

The first thing to do is to seriously engage in institutional and management reform, and, of course, bring in the most advanced information technologies.

To Mishustin, there are enough resources out there to achieve goals set by the President: "We have a fairly stable [economic] situation ... we do have inflation but I think it will not exceed 4 percent, this is obvious."

For as long as I’ve been alive, my country has been a rogue state.

Actually, the US became a rogue state four years before my birth in 1949 when, in 1945, Washington decided to bomb two militarily insignificant cities in Japan with its new super weapon, the atomic bomb, instantly incinerating several hundred thousand Japanese civilians, including many, many children, and condemning at least that many more to slow agonizing deaths from resulting cancers and birth defects.

Iraq Reopens Negotiations For Purchase Of Russian S-300 Air Defense Systems

With Iraq's airspace being frequently violated by American and even Israeli bombing raids against the country's paramilitary units backed by Iran of late, Iraq has for the last several months considered purchasing Russian air defense and missile systems, including both the S-300 and more advanced S-400, however, it has been met with fierce pressure from the US.

And now Russian media is reporting authorities in Baghdad have formally resumed talks to possibly acquire the S-300 systems.

Falsely Blaming Iran for Ukraine Airliner Crash

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)

Disinformation, Big Lies and fake news repeated enough get most people to believe the official (falsified) narrative.

That’s what state-sponsored propaganda is all about — supported by establishment media, operating as press agents for powerful interests, manipulating the public mind, suppressing hard truths on major issues.

On Wednesday, Ukraine Airlines Flight 752 crashed minutes after departing from Tehran’s International Airport.

All 167 passengers and nine crew members perished, including 135 Iranian and 32 foreign nationals.

Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization said the aircraft caught fire in flight shortly after takeoff.

After Missiles Fly, Iraq Becomes the Battleground

The future of the U.S.’s involvement in the Middle East is in Iraq. The exchange of hostilities between the U.S. and Iran occurred wholly on Iraqi soil and it has become the site on which that war will continue.

The defenders of Syria can soon transition into the rebuilders thereof, if allowed. And they didn’t do this alone, they had a silent partner in China the entire time.

And, if I look at this situation honestly, it was China stepping out from behind the shadows into the light that is your inciting incident for this chapter in Iraq’s story.

China moving in to sign a $10.1 billion deal with the Iraqi government to begin the reconstruction of its ruined oil and gas industry in exchange for oil is of vital importance.

Iran May Have a Fleet of Communist Killer Dolphins

Is it just me.....pun intended,or did somebody just jump the shark?

Iran has some surprising weapons at its disposal. In a 2002 U.S. military exercise that pitted Iran against an invasion from an American task force, the general in command of the opposition was retired Lt. Gen. Paul Van Riper. He used motorcycles, small fast-attack boats, land-based missile batteries and even suicide attacks against the Americans.

But he apparently forgot to use Iran's killer dolphin units.

Top IRGC General: Strikes on US Forces in Iraq Just Beginning of Full-Scale Op Across Region

Iran launched a missile strike on US positions in Iraq in retaliation for the assassination of its IRGC General Qasem Soleimani. According to US statements, this attack didn't result in any casualties and only caused minor damage to American bases.

Head of the Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh has stated that the 8 January missile attack on American bases in neighbouring Iraq was only the start of a series of attacks that will take place across the entire region, Tasnim News Agency reported. The general further shared that the country had hundreds of missiles ready for launch, when it carried out strikes and added that Tehran conducted cyberattacks on the same day against American plane and drone navigation systems.

Head of the Iraqi Parliament’s Security and Defense Committee, Mohammad Reza, has indicated negotiations were renewed following the latest attacks initiated nearly two weeks ago on Shiite Popular Mobilization Forces.

"The issue was supposed to be solved several months ago after attacks on Shiite militia al-?ashd ash-Sha'bi [Popular Mobilization Forces, PMF] bases in Baghdad and other provinces created the need for such air defenses", the lawmaker was quoted in Russia's Sputnik as saying.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And who in their right mind can blame Iraq for wanting the S-300 defensive system?!? It is battle-ready, and it has been shown in Syria to outclass anything the US has in its arsenal right now.

Major U.S. Military Contractors Stand to Reap Huge Windfalls from Escalation of Conflict with IranMeet the CEOs Raking It in from Trump’s Aggression toward Iran

I took a look at how the CEOs at the top five Pentagon contractors were affected by this surge, using the most recent SEC information on their stock holdings.

Northrop Grumman executives saw the biggest increase in the value of their stocks after the U.S. airstrike that killed Qasem Suleimani on January 2. Shares in the B-2 bomber maker rose 5.43 percent by the end of trading the following day.

Wesley Bush, who turned Northrop Grumman’s reins over to Kathy Warden last year, held 251,947 shares of company stock in various trusts as of his final SEC Form 4 filing in May 2019. (Companies must submit these reports when top executives and directors buy and sell company stock.) Assuming Bush is still sitting on that stockpile, he saw the value grow by $4.9 million to a total of $94.5 million last Friday.

New Northrop Grumman CEO Warden saw the 92,894 shares she’d accumulated as the firm’s COO expand in value by more than $2.7 million in just one day of post-assassination trading.

The State of the Iranian Crisis. Will Trump “Escalate” or “De-escalate”?

Possibly Trump will apply “crippling sanctions” as a cover for withdrawal from most of the Middle East. Iran wants the US out, and Trump’s original intention was to withdraw before Russiagate forced him to stay. Thus, both Trump and Iran have a common interest in US withdrawal. Although the Iranian missiles killed no one, they did demonstrate to Israel that the Iranian missiles have pin point accuracy. As Israel is a small land area, the accuracy of Iranian missiles possibly has changed Israel’s mind about provoking a war. If Israel also stands down, perhaps the crisis is over.

US Regional Presence Makes Middle East Peace and Stability Unattainable
On the other hand, the neoconservatives will be unhappy. They see chaos in Iran as a way of spreading instability into the Russian Federation. The military/security complex will be unhappy as US withdrawal would downsize their profits. US oil interests will be unhappy to lose the Iraqi oil.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Here's hoping (and in my case, praying) that Paul Craig Roberts is entirely correct in his assessment; but there is one wild-card still waiting to play its hand; and that wild card will be Israel.

I really have to wonder if Netanyahu didn't put President Trump up to this , and now, to attempt to take pressure off from his corruption accusations, since he won the Israeli Prime Minister spot handily in the last election.

Israeli intelligence makes it their business, to know the most they can about every political and wealthy figure, all over the globe; one has to wonder just what he, and/or Mossad, may have on the President which caused him to act so very irrationally a to assassinate Souleimani?

I don't think is over, by a long shot; but the US and/or Israel are going to have to work fast to get an escalation going before Congress restrains the President's war powers.

GOP Sen. Mike Lee: Trump Officials Told Senators Not to Debate War Authorization

After the Trump Administration’s 75-minute briefing to the US Senate on the assassination of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) was deeply critical, calling it the worst briefing he’d gotten in his nine years in the Senate.

Saying the administration’s briefers offered little on the legal or practical justification for the attack, Sen. Lee particularly took umbrage at them warning the Senators that they must not debate the War Powers authorization for a war with Iran.

Those giving the briefing objected to the very idea of the Senate discussing the matter publicly, saying it would “embolden Iran.” Sen. Lee noted that this is a power Constitutionally reserved explicitly for the legislature.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To President Trump and his minions; I believe that I remember correctly, that only Congress has the power to declare war.

Any other use of any war authorization of force, is extra-judicial, and therefore illegal, as was the war against Iraq, and the war against Afghanistan.

and there is also a companion piece, in antiwar.com, dated yesterday, with the following headline:

'We Need Everyone in the Streets': More Than 180 Events Planned Across US to Protest Trump's March to War With Iran

Russian politician warns Iran and US could spark NUCLEAR WAR if reciprocal attacks on each other continue

Vladimir Dzhabarov, a senior lawmaker in Russia's parliament, urged against escalation in the wake of Iranian ballistic missile strikes on Iraqi bases housing US troops in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The strike was in retaliation for the US killing Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad on Friday night.

'Reciprocal strikes by the U.S. and Iran may lead to an all-out war in the region,' Dzhabarov said.

'If Washington sees that it can't achieve its goals, there's a danger of a nuclear war.'

The Russian lawmaker said the U.N. Security Council should get involved to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.

WW3 UPDATE: Two U.S. Bases Attacked By Iran, Civilian Ukraine Jet Crashes, Iran Hit By Earthquake At Nuclear Power Plant

By Aaron Kesel

Iran has unleashed a barrage of missile fire on military bases Al-Asad and Erbil in Iraq, leading many to speculate there is a greater response to come; and if the events in the past few days wasn’t a sign of war, this certainly is. Amid the attack, there was also a report of a civilian airliner crashing in Tehran that was heading to Kiev, showing what’s to come as innocents die as a casualty of war. And a nuclear plant in Iran was hit with an earthquake, raising suspicions about the timing...

U.S. military believes Iran will attempt to kill one of its commanders in 'tit-for-tat' response to the death of General Soleimani and expects a 'major' attack within two days

U.S. officials are braced for Iran to respond to the killing of its most powerful general, and are preparing for a possible 'tit-for-tat' attempt on the life of an American military commander.

President Donald Trump ordered the Jan. 2 strike against Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran's elite Quds Force, after the death of an American contractor in Iraq.

Now, as the massive demonstrations of Iran's public mourning period for Soleimani come to a close, officials believe the next steps by America' longtime foe will determine the ultimate course of the latest crisis.

While officials say American intelligence isn't clear on whether Iran's latest military moves are designed to bolster Tehran´s defenses or prepare for an offensive strike, the U.S. is continuing to reinforce its own positions in the region, including repositioning some forces.

One official said the U.S. anticipated a 'major' attack of some type within the next day or two.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation; before Congress can try to limit President Trump's war authority, there probably will be some kind of "false flag", most probably conjured up by Mossad, and one of our military leaders will be "sacrificed" as the justification to go to war with Iran.

Am I actually that cynical that I believe something like this might
happen?!? Absoflippinglutely.

Notice the time frame, within the next 48 hours; also notice that whoever made these claims, were utterly not sourced.

Remember that phrase, ""never let a good crisis go to waste." as Winston Churchill once famously said?

We are seeing this being played out, big-time, in this incessant, non-stop demonization of Iran.

White House accused of cover-up after Saudi crown prince's brother reveals he had Oval Office meeting with Donald Trump and Jared Kushner in wake of death of Qassem Soleimani

President Trump hosted Saudi Arabia's Vice Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman in the Oval Office Monday - and didn't tell the press about it.

A photograph tweeted out by the prince - who is the brother of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman - shows him sitting alongside Jared Kushner, Robert O'Brien, Trump's national security adviser, and Victoria Coates, O'Brien's deputy.

Trump is seated at the Resolute Desk.

The meeting was not on the president's schedule, nor was the press pool informed that Prince Khalid was at the White House.

The White House Correspondents' Association slammed the White House for keeping it off-the-books.

'It is disturbing to see the government of Saudi Arabia have more transparency than the White House about a meeting with the president in the Oval Office,' said WHCA President Jonathan Karl in a statement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Color me completely unsurprised at this revelation.

Soleimani was to deliver Tehran's reply to Saudi de-escalation letter when killed: Iraqi PM

Iraq's Caretaker Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi has said that Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani was set to deliver Tehran's reply to an earlier Saudi message regarding de-escalation talks mediated by Baghdad when he was assassinated.

Abdul-Mahdi made the remarks during an extraordinary parliamentary session in the capital which led to the adoption of a law demanding the withdrawal of US forces from the country on Sunday, the National Iraqi News Agency reported.

The premier said that he was due to meet Soleimani at 8:30 am local time on Friday before the US assassinated the general a few hours earlier.

The revelations come as Baghdad has been mediating talks between Tehran and Riyadh following a recent uptick of tensions the region.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF this report is true, what the US did, in the extrajudicial assassination of Soleimani, was to potentially push Iran past the point of no return here; that was the design objective.

Why I don’t trust Trump, Pompeo on Iran

By Ron Paul

US President Donald Trump and his Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told us the US had to assassinate Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani last week because he was planning “imminent attacks” on US citizens. I don’t believe them.

Why not? Because Trump and the neocons – like Pompeo – have been lying about Iran for the past three years in an effort to whip up enough support for a US attack. From the phony justification to get out of the Iran nuclear deal, to blaming Yemen on Iran, to blaming Iran for an attack on Saudi oil facilities, the US Administration has fed us a steady stream of lies for three years because they are obsessed with Iran.

And before Trump’s obsession with attacking Iran, the past four US Administrations lied ceaselessly to bring about wars on Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Serbia, Somalia, and the list goes on.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ron Paul, is absolutely the poster person for common sense here.

Jan 07 16:28

Evidence? What evidence? Pompeo shows no proof of ‘imminent’ Soleimani attacks

The US says that Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was plotting “imminent and sinister” attacks against its diplomats and military personnel. But when Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was pressed for evidence of this, he gave none.
Soleimani, commander of the Iranian military’s Quds Force, was assassinated in a drone strike in Baghdad, Iraq, on Friday. Before the strike, President Donald Trump implicated Iran in a fatal rocket attack on an American base in Iraq in December, and in the storming of the American embassy in Baghdad by protesters last week. Afterwards, he said that Soleimani was killed to prevent “imminent and sinister” attacks against American officials and troops in the Middle East.

With Washington and Tehran throwing escalatory threats at each other following the strike, Pompeo spoke to reporters on Tuesday. Asked for evidence of the threat posed by Soleimani, the US secretary of state provided little in the way of information

Webmaster's Commentary:

Could it be possible that Secretary of State Pompeo could not provide tangible, irrefutable evidence because, possibly, there was none to provide?!?

Please remember; we were lied to about Iraq having alleged "weapons of mass destruction", as the premise for the invasion of that country, and its occupation which continues into the present day.

US Doesn't Want to Start a War With Iran But is 'Prepared to Finish One' - Pentagon Chief Esper

"We are not looking to start a war with Iran but we are prepared to finish one,” US Defense Secretary Mark Esper tells @camanpour. “...What we would like to see is the situation de-escalated and for Tehran to sit down with us and begin a discussion about a better way ahead.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sec Def Esper, if you wanted to de-escalate, should you perhaps have thought about not assassinating one of Iran's most respected military leaders, whether he was revered, or hated?!?

You knew this was an escalation; President Trump wanted it; and now the US government and military are going to have to deal with an Iran with which Russia has excellent relations, both politically, and militarily.

Was this your ultimate plan, sir; to have the US fighting a coalition of Iranian and Russian military, so that Israel doesn't have to get its hands dirty, having off-sourced the war to the US President and military?

Because if it was, it appears that the brakes have come smartly off the wheels of sanity regarding this coming confrontation, and I will be very surprised if we survive the week, and absolutely nothing has happened, in terms of some kind of Iranian retaliation.

Video: As Iran Tensions Rise, US Air Force Conducts ‘Completely Coincidental’ Mass F-35 Drill

On Monday, Utah’s Hill Air Force Base put on a powerful show of force, practicing a maneuver known as an “elephant walk,” in which they launched more than 50 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters in just minutes. However, the US Air Force swears it has nothing to do with simmering tensions with Iran.

Two fighter wings at Hill Air Force Base practiced a rapid deployment method called an “elephant walk,” quickly launching 52 F-35 Lightning II stealth aircraft with just seconds between each takeoff.

Iran Evaluating 13 Retaliation Scenarios To Inflict "Historic Nightmare" On US

"Even if the weakest of these scenarios gain a consensus, its implementation can be a historic nightmare for the Americans."

Breaking a 5-day silence over its response for the US killing of General Qassem Soleimani, on Tuesday Iran said it was assessing 13 scenarios to inflict a "historic nightmare" on the US. "Even if the weakest of these scenarios gain a consensus, its implementation can be a historic nightmare for the Americans," Ali Shamkhani, the head of Iran's national security council, was cited by Fars news agency, adding that, "For now, for intelligence reasons, we cannot provide more information to the media."

"We're Going To War, Bro": Elite 82nd Airborne In Largest 'Fast Deployment' In A Decade

“We’re going to war, bro” — declared a young US soldier from the US Army's celebrated 82nd Airborne Division. He gave reporters a confident two thumbs up as his unit moved out on its largest “fast deployment” in a decade at a moment Iran has promised to inflict a "historic nightmare" on the US in retaliation for the killing of Qasem Soleimani.

Reuters provided a detailed account of the uneasy yet somewhat jovial calm before the storm atmosphere that prevailed on the airport tarmac at Fort Bragg, North Carolina as 600 soldiers and many hundreds more support crew flew out.

While Kuwait is expected to be the first stop for most of the some 3,500 total paratroopers ordered to the region, the final destination is classified, and the Army is concerned over information leaks. For this reason the US Army confiscated the cell phones and any personal communication devices of those deploying on the transport planes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Of all the possible ways with which to break the US/Iranian impasse, there may have been a more volatile, and risk-laden response than what appears will be happening very soon, but I am having a hard time imagining just how.

and where, please, is the absolute, incontrovertible proof that an Iranian agent actually killed that American contractor?!? From what I have seen so far, there doesn't appear to be any factual basis; the timing is simply "convenient" to explain away the American extrajudicial assassination of Soulemani.

Putin makes surprise visit to Syria, discusses security situation with Assad

Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a surprise visit to Syria, holding talks with his counterpart, Bashar Assad, at the Russian military command center.

Putin “rode through the streets of Damascus” on his way to the command center, where he headed after landing at the city’s airport, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

Jan 07 10:45

Russian president Vladimir Putin lands in Damascus on unannounced visit

Russian president Vladimir Putin has arrived in Damascus on a surprise visit to meet his Syrian counterpart, Bashar al-Assad.

Mr Putin met with Assad in a Russian military base in the capital, where the two leaders discussed the military situation in the country, according to the Kremlin.

Moscow has been a key backer of Assad for years, formally entering Syria's civil war on his side in 2015. That intervention was credited with turning the tide of the conflict in Assad's favour, allowing his military forces to recapture most of Syria.

"During his talks with Assad, Putin noted that it is now possible to state with conviction that a huge distance has been covered on the path to restoring Syrian statehood and the territorial integrity of the country," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, as quoted by the Russian Interfax news agency.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would also like to politely remind those in the depths of the Bowels of Power in DC, what a Russian diplomat assured his Iranian counterpart in a conference held last summer:

Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

The article went on to state: "“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow." The story was published in the 26 June, 2019 edition of the English language version of Moscow Times.

So what we have, potentially happening here, is a shooting war with Russia...over Iran?!?!?

Unfortunately, just because something is one of the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing this government could do, does not guarantee they won't do it.

I am sure that Putin and al-Assad have been speaking about how such a potential war between the US and Iran, and how to minimize its impact on war-shattered Syria, in the most intelligent and logical manner possible.

But President Trump, please; at this point, the US military does not have the money, the troop strength, the weaponry, or manufacturing to insure that the US could win a conventional war with Russia over Iran.

And folks, someone in Putin's inner circle, like Kabulov, most probably doesn't FART, unless they have President Putin's absolute and complete authority to do so; therefore, think of this assurance to Iran, as having come straight from Russia's President himself.

Putin’s Hour Is At Hand

Washington’s murder of Qasem Soleimani, a great Iranian leader, indeed, one of the rare leaders in world history, has dimmed Trump’s leadership and placed the limelight on Putin. The stage is set for Putin and Russia to assume the leadership of the world.

Washington’s murder of Soleimani is a criminal act that could start World War 3 just as the Serbian murder of the Austrian Archduke set World War 1 in motion. Only Putin and Russia with China’s help can stop this war that Washington has set in motion.

The USA is now at war, de-facto and de-jure, with BOTH Iraq and Iran (UPDATED 6X)

The blowback has begun

First, let’s begin by a quick summary of what has taken place (note: this info is still coming in, so there might be corrections once the official sources make their official statements).

Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdl Mahdi has now officially revealed that the US had asked him to mediate between the US and Iran and that General Qassem Soleimani to come and talk to him and give him the answer to his mediation efforts. Thus, Soleimani was on an OFFICIAL DIPLOMATIC MISSION as part of a diplomatic initiative INITIATED BY THE USA.For one thing, the US will now become an official and totally illegal military presence in Iraq. This means that whatever SOFA (Status Of Forces Agreement) the US and Iraq had until now is void.

Second, the US now has two options:

Fight and sink deep into a catastrophic quagmire or
Withdraw from Iraq and lose any possibility to keep forces in Syria

Satan for scrap: Russia to DESTROY two of its most powerful strategic nuclear missiles in 2020

Russia is set to dismantle two of its Soviet-era intercontinental ballistic missiles – still considered the most powerful in the world – this year. The R-36M2 ICBMs are commonly known under the NATO reporting name SS-18 Satan.

Two missiles, currently stored at a military compound in Russia’s Urals, are set to be destroyed by the end of November, Interfax reported citing a contract for their dismantling. The missiles – which have a dry weight of 52 tons – will be dismantled for scrap, since they contain quite a cache of valuable materials.

Each ‘Satan’ contains at least 1.2kg of gold, some 19kg of silver, a few grams of platinum as well as almost 6 tons of ferrous and 20 tons of non-ferrous metals. The rest of the missile – fiberglass, assorted rubber plumbing and other materials are set to be recycled and disposed of as well.

The Leftist Cult vs. The Trump Cult: Similarities And Differences

Some of the alternative media is starting to catch on.

Enter Donald Trump, a kind of artificially created focal point machine, a figure that is designed to absorb liberty movement talking points and then regurgitate them in an alphabet soup puddle on Twitter. This rhetoric is relatively effective in that many conservatives recognize parts of the soup and find comfort that Trump “must be on their side”.

I have outlined in numerous articles Trump's dubious background and behavior. To summarize, we often hear lip service from Trump on anti-globalism and anti-elitism, even though it is an undeniable fact that he has saturated his cabinet with globalists and elitists.

We heard anti-banker talking points from Trump during his campaign, even though Trump has a longstanding relationship to the Rothschild family and works side-by-side with Rothschild and Goldman Sachs bankers in the White House.

Why I Don’t Criticize Russia, China, Or Other Unabsorbed Governments

By Caitlin Johnstone

Depending on whose political echo chamber I happen to be arguing with on a given day, one common criticism I run into a fair bit which many of my readers have surely also encountered is that I put all my energy into criticizing the foreign policy of the United States and its allies.

“You’re not anti-war, you’re only anti-AMERICAN wars!” they say, as though they’re delivering some kind of devastating slam-dunk point. “If you’re so antiwar, why don’t you criticize Assad’s war in Syria? If you’re such an anti-imperialist, show me where you’ve ever once criticized Russian imperialism, or Chinese imperialism?”

Russian and Ukrainian state energy majors Gazprom and Naftogaz have reached a breakthrough agreement to continue the transit of Russian natural gas to European countries using the Ukrainian pipeline network.

The package deal inked between the Russian company and Ukraine has restored the balance of interests between the parties, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said, noting that the Russian energy giant “has made everything possible and has proved one more time that it is a responsible supplier and a reliable partner.”

The agreement will ensure the transit of Russian gas through pipelines on Ukrainian territory for the next five years, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed, adding that Kiev is set to receive over $7 billion from Moscow within the deal.

2019: A disastrous year for Trump’s foreign policy

Twenty-nineteen could best be described as a year when Donald Trump’s foreign policy unraveled on so many fronts. It became ever more erratic, one-sided and personalized, changing with the US president’s mood swings. The crisis, as many would call it, has been a long time in the making, and the implications will surely cast a long shadow over the new decade.

Trump, a self-proclaimed deal maker, is floundering as much internationally as he is domestically.
