Amazon, Apple and Google join forces to make their home products 'speak to each other' to make smart homes a reality

It is a move the technology giants hope will make it easier for consumers as they will be able to use different devices from a variety of companies on the same network.

'We believe that the protocol has the potential to be widely adopted across home systems and assistants', the new group said in a statement.

The royalty-free and open source software standard will have 'security as a fundamental design tenet', according to Apple.

Anonymous whistleblower reveals $43million fraud scheme at Apple assembly partner Foxconn's biggest iPhone factory in China that 'sold more than 300,000 bootleg phones made from defective parts'

Workers at Foxconn's biggest iPhone assembly plant in China were allegedly running an illegal side business selling bootleg phones made from defective components that would otherwise have been destroyed.

The scheme is believed to have generated an estimated $43million over the course of more than two years.

Local reports say an estimated 300,000 units were sold during the scheme, including iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X models.

House swiftly advances behemoth $1.4T spending deal

The House Tuesday passed a $1.4 trillion spending pact that would inject federal agencies with $49 billion in extra cash this fiscal year, enact a host of substantial policy changes and avert a repeat of last year's holiday-time government shutdown.

The lower chamber early in the afternoon advanced the first of two year-end funding bundles, passing 297-120 a domestic spending package with money for health, transportation, education and more. The second package, passed 280-138, was a four-bill national security minibus that includes billions of dollars for the military and DHS. Lawmakers pushed through the measure despite opposition from progressives and members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, who cited funding for the Trump administration’s “immoral“ immigration policies and “unchecked” military spending.

Tesla shares hit record high after EV maker plans to use cheaper Chinese-made parts for its entry-level Model 3 to compete with U.S. rivals

The price of Tesla stock hit $392.50, jumping 4.3 per cent after sources said the EV maker was exploring a 20 per cent price cut for its Model 3 sedan to compete with rivals.

Tesla aims to lower the base price on Model 3 with more, cheaper Chinese parts that would help the company dodge tariffs, sources told Bloomberg.

French strikers cut ELECTRICITY to thousands of homes, companies and even the Bank of France in bid to force Macron to scrap hated pension reforms

Trade unions cut power to 50,000 homes in Bordeaux and 40,000 in Lyon.

Train services across France also remained disrupted as half a million protested.

President Emmanuel Macron is trying to reform pension system to make it equal.

Thousands of French homes, companies and even the Bank of France have been left without power as strikers march through the streets demanding President Emmanuel Macron drops his hated pension reforms.

Trade unions deliberately severed the electricity supply to 150,000 homes across Bordeaux, Lyon, Nantes and Cherbourg yesterday, and threatened to repeat the action unless the government backs down.

Clinics, fire stations, and railway stations were also left with the lights off, said the government, as the capital Paris remained wracked by protests and without public transport.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to hope that Macron can do something, other than behaving like a spoiled child, due to that fact that the country hates his attempted pension reforms.

Boris Johnson to pass bill making BDS illegal

The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, is allegedly preparing to pass a bill which will outlaw advocacy for the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS) against Israel, which will make it illegal for public bodies to engage with any group which participates in boycotts of the Israeli regime.

The story, which first surfaced in INews, has now caught wind in the Israeli press and is seen as another win for Israel to have come from Britain’s recent election, with Labor’s pro-Palestinian Jeremy Corbyn losing to his Conservative Party rival.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Wow, that didn't take long at all!!

What Current Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu wants from Western leaders, he gets, with a snap of his fingers.

And Boris, now we know... for whom you really work; the smear against Corbyn's party may well have been orchestrated directly from Tel Aviv, because Netanyahu understood that he would get every support possible from you he wanted, no matter how wrong-headed any decision he might have made could be.

And what do the Palestinians get from such actions?!?

Zero; zip; nada; absolutely nothing, except for more misery; more dislocation; and more deaths against innocent, unarmed protestors demonstrating, peacefully, against the apartheid under which they are living.

I would very much like to remind Johnson of the following statements by Anglican Bishop Desmond Tutu, regarding Israeli apartheid, and the actions taken against him, for not supporting Israel's position on its apartheid against Palestinians:

Nobel Laureate Desmond Tutu Banned From Campus Over Israel Criticism

Desmond Tutu: Israel guilty of apartheid in treatment of Palestinians

And believe me, this is a guy who knows apartheid, because he lived through it, in his own country!!! The Anglican church was very smart in ordaining him as Bishop, because the Boetha government couldn't touch him.

I had the opportunity to hear hear him, at a Los Angeles Episcopal Church, St. John's Episcopal, on Adams Boulevard, many years ago.

His passion for peace, not only for African South Africans, but for all South Africans, was nothing short of completely amazing.

Turkey calls US ending of Cyprus arms embargo ‘dangerous escalation’

Turkey has warned that the United States’ decision to end a decades-old arms embargo on Cyprus would be a “dangerous escalation.”

In a statement issued late Tuesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said the US decision “will have no outcome other than hampering efforts toward a settlement on the island and creating a dangerous escalation.”

The US Congress voted Tuesday to lift the arms embargo on Cyprus, which has been in place since 1987. The measure has passed both chambers of Congress as part of a massive defense spending bill, with President Donald Trump likely to sign it.

The bill comes at a time of tensions between Turkey and the US over such issues as Ankara’s purchase of the Russian S-400 system and Washington’s support for Kurdish-led militants in Syria.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This ... could get very ugly, very quickly, and someone with some "male Attributes in NATO", has GOT to start working, very hard, and very intelligently, to prevent two NATO members, Greece and Turkey, from assaulting each other, militarily.

That’s what the man says: Kremlin backs top general’s assessment that NATO is drilling for large-scale war

The Kremlin has said that it trusts the opinion of a senior Russian general, who has said that NATO's intensified drills this year are an indication that the military bloc is preparing for a major conflict.

Valery Gerasimov, the chair of the Russian General Staff, shared the wary view that the Russian military have about NATO's maneuvers on Tuesday as he gave a year-end briefing to foreign military attaches in Moscow.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the opinion was based on analyses of data collected by the Russian military and should not be dismissed.

"In this case the professional opinion may be the only correct one, so the presidential administration is in no position to put forward its own military assessment," he said.

Gerasimov said the increased number and scale of military exercises conducted by NATO members this year indicates that the alliance "is purposefully training its troops to be engaged in a major military conflict."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Russian leadership may be many things; stupid, however, is not one of them.

I would like to very politely, but strongly, urge caution, on the part of NATO, to please define what it believes are its "enemies" with a great deal of care and consideration.

Germany ‘won’t back down’ under threat of US sanctions over Nord Stream 2 pipeline with Russia – Merkel

Chancellor Angela Merkel has insisted that Berlin will not give into pressure from Washington after the US Senate approved a bill sanctioning German companies working on a pipeline that will deliver natural gas from Russia.
During Wednesday’s Q&A session in parliament, lawmakers asked Merkel about the possibility of the US slapping sanctions on German companies building the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

The chancellor said that she firmly opposes such sanctions because they have an extraterritorial effect. They will not push Berlin to abandon the project, however, she said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As the American comedian Ron White frequently mentions, "You can't fix stupid."

And in terms of being one of the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly idiotic things President Trump could have possibly done, just after attempting to shake down NATO members for more money, President Trump wins the crown for complete, abysmal stupidity, relative to both Germany and Europe, with this move.

Deutsche Bahn in Trouble With Berlin Authorities After Exposing Greta Thunberg ‘Train Bluff‘

After the teen climate activist tweeted a picture of herself sitting on the floor of an “overcrowded train” in Germany, the transportation giant reprimanded her for holding back that she had a first-class ticket. As it turned out, Deutsche Bahn might have revealed a bit too much information about her trip.

The German train giant Deutsche Bahn has been called to Berlin’s data protection officer over its sarcastic response to climate activist Greta Thunberg’s tweet about “overcrowded trains”, German media report. Maja Smoltczyk, tasked with watching out for citizens’ privacy, has intervened as the company revealed the teenager’s travel data.

As the official’s spokesman told Tagesspiegel, this fact would lead to “a conversation with Deutsche Bahn about handling passenger rights with regard to personal travel data”. The appointment is planned for within the next few weeks.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This teenager is very adept in manipulating the media; and they just got pilloried... again, by this story!!

Bolivian Attorney General Orders Ex-President Morales' Arrest

Former Bolivian President Evo Morales, who, after resigning, received asylum in Mexico, arrived on 12 December in the capital of Argentina, where he was granted refugee status.

Bolivia’s new Interior Minister Arturo Murillo has on Twitter published an arrest order for the country’s former President Evo Morales.

According to the text of the document, the decision to issue a warrant was taken as part of a criminal investigation into incitement to rebellion, terrorism, and financing terrorism.

The interior minister has already vowed to detain the former president, accusing Morales of inciting anti-government protests that, as Murillo claimed, amounted to terrorism.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is primarily a very public exercise in futility, as Mora has already been given permanent asylum in Argentina; and I sincerely doubt that Argentina will return him back to Bolivia for what is certain to be, a show trial.

Left in Misery’: UN Peacekeepers Fathered, Abandoned Hundreds of Babies in Haiti

Personnel enlisted in the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) fathered hundreds of babies during their deployment and abandoned the young mothers after being informed of the unexpected pregnancies, a new report published Tuesday by researchers and academics revealed.

“The narratives reveal how girls as young as 11 were sexually abused and impregnated by peacekeepers and then, as one man put it, ‘left in misery’ to raise their children alone, often because the fathers are repatriated once the pregnancy becomes known,” reads the report.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This ... is just morally ill.

What would I do to prevent the problem?!? When people sign on to become "peace keepers", there should be a clause in that contract that if they get a local woman pregnant, and the baby's DNA matches that of the dad, that the father would be liable and bound for their support until they reach adulthood.

It is not as though these people don't know what a condom is, or how to use it, even if their victims do not.

Graphic Video: US Cop Caught Repeatedly Punching, Macing Restrained Inmate’s Face

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been asked to intervene and probe the beating and pepper spraying of an inmate by a former Ohio deputy who struck the man so hard he broke his hand.

Pike County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Mooney recently resigned after surveillance footage captured his November 18 attack on Thomas Friend, a 27-year-old restrained inmate who had been arrested on a misdemeanor charge.

Mooney can be seen using a fogger to pepper spray Friend at around the 2:18 timestamp. Friend, strapped to a chair, then reacts to the substance and ends up tipping his seat over. Nearly 11 minutes pass before the inmate is picked up.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just what kind of professional evaluation this officer was given, enabling him to become a Deputy, and if he was on - or just trying to get off- SSRI prescription medication.

Missile-Toe? US General Frets Pyongyang’s ‘Christmas Gift’ Could be Long-Range Test

With North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s New Years’ deadline for resuming negotiations quickly approaching, some Pentagon leaders are fretting that Kim may send the US a “Christmas gift” or possibly ring in the new year with a new long-range missile test. Kim announced a unilateral moratorium on such tests in April 2018.

“A long-range ballistic missile” test is expected before year's end, according to Gen. Charles Brown, commander of Pacific Air Forces and air component commander for US Indo-Pacific Command.

“What I would expect is some type of long-range ballistic missile would be the gift. It’s just a matter of does it come on Christmas Eve, does it come on Christmas Day, does it come after the New Year,” Brown told reporters at a breakfast roundtable on Tuesday, according to The Hill.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What does "negotiation" really entail?!?

We could, reasonably, say, that the process of negotiation demands a "quid pro quo" vision, where if the other country takes steps to negotiate, and provides tangible results to ratchet down tension, the country wanting the other country to take those steps, must then logically take steps of its own to ratchet down the tension.

And here has been the crux of the problem; President Trump has been, essentially telling North Korea that it must do everything the US demands, before it will even think about what the US government "just might" do in return.

President Kim Jung-Un did take some concrete, very visible steps, right after the first summit between himself and President Trump; but the US has done nothing demonstrable to even begin to prove that it is serious, by taking any further steps to lessen the tensions here.

Unfortunately, no matter the advice he may have been given to help shape his foreign policy on North Korea, no one in the bowels of power in DC has been able to successfully educate him on the concept of "face", which is critical to Asian countries and key to successfully deal with Asian leadership.

So President Trump, I am very sorry, but you have brought the current and potentially deadly developments with North Korea, upon your own head.

Because what we are looking at, should North Korea feel sufficiently threatened by your current course of action, will most probably be a war with both North Korea and China.

And that, sir, may just not be a winnable war for the US side.

Moscow and Europe Dislike US Sanctions on Nord Stream 2, Measures Violate Int'l Law - Kremlin

The US Senate on 17 December passed a $738 billion defence bill for the 2020 fiscal year that, in particular, includes sanctions against Nord Stream 2, TurkStream, and bars military-to-military cooperation with Russia.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has slammed US sanctions on Nord Stream 2 as “a perfect example of unfair competition", saying that Washington is imposing more expensive gas on Europe. He continued on by saying that both "Moscow and Europe dislike US sanctions on Nord Stream 2, as these measures violate international law".

"We assume that this project will be completed", Peskov told reporters, when asked whether the construction of the pipeline could be halted due to the sanctions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Congrats, President Trump, for pushing Europe and Turkey closer into the Russian orbit, well done, sir!!

The heights of absurdity have absolutely been breached and reached, with the passage of these sanctions, and President Trump may well have absolutely inflicted the "coup de grace" on NATO, with this bone-headed, tone-deaf move, coupled with his screaming at NATO members for more money, at the Conference earlier this month.

Does the man actually play checkers?!?! And I ask this, because he seems to be completely maladroit at any action which resembles any real diplomacy, and that takes a vision of the long term, as chess does.

Erdogan Threatens Recognition Of 'Genocide' Of Native Americans In Tit-For-Tat

Is this how Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans to "get back" at Washington for the recent US bill that recognizes the 1915 Armenian Genocide? Last month he had warned Trump directly of dire consequences if the term "genocide" is formalized in US law.

And now, according to The Independent, Erdogan says Turkey could in turn give legal recognition to the mass killing of native Americans by European settlers and American colonists in the latest tit-for-tat move against the Congressional resolution.

“Can we speak about America without mentioning [Native Americans]? It is a shameful moment in US history,” Erdogan said in a televised interview this week, raising the threat of a reciprocal measure. Theoretically such Turkish legislation would mean the Turkish government could not associate itself with any event or institution which involved denial of the 'genocide' of native Americans.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The irony here, cannot possibly be lost on Americans who are more familiar with the true story of how the West was won; and yes, massive assassinations, coupled with exposure to diseases to which Indigenous Americans had no immunity, were a big part of settlers' successes in the West.

Lights, Camera, Greta! Teen Environmentalist's 'Viral' Rise Has Been A Documentary This Whole Time

eta Thunberg, the 16-year-old environmentalist who started skipping school in 2018 to protest outside the Swedish parliament, has long been promoted a special needs teen whose tireless mission to shame the west into cap-and-trade went 'viral' organically.

In fact, TIME Magazine's Person of the Year had a professional film crew "following Thunberg from her early school strike in Stockholm all the way to parliaments and massive international protests" for a forthcoming documentary on HULU tentatively titled 'Greta,' which is set to air in 2020, according to Deadline.

Director Nathan Grossman - who previously directed a Swedish film about one man's reflection on his life as a carnivore titled "Lusts of the Meat" (Köttets lustar) - has been documenting Greta's mission "to make the world understand the urgency of the climate crisis."

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Use Extreme Caution": Boaters Warned Of "Unsafe, Erratic" Russian Spy Ship Off Carolina Coast

A Russian spy ship which had been been sailing off the coast of South Carolina and Florida for the past few days has been a source of alarm for US authorities who say it's been operating in an “unsafe” and “erratic” manner.

It prompted an unusual US Coast Guard alert which warned boaters off South Carolina and Georgia to "use extreme caution", especially given the Russian ship, the Viktor Leonov, is avoiding any communication or direct contact with other ships alerting them to its passage, CNN reports. Though not unusual, the ship also turned off its locator when it got near the US coast.

"The United States Coast Guard has received reports indicating that the RFN VIKTOR LEONOV (AGI-175) has been operating in an unsafe manner off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia," the Coast Guard bulletin said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder if this is not "payback" for some rather odd maneuvers US ships have done in the vicinity of Russian ships.

Judge Rules Government Entitled To Snowden Book, Speech Proceeds

A federal judge ruled on Tuesday that the US government is entitled to the proceeds from Edward Snowden's memoir, as well as any money he earns from paid speeches, because the former National Security Agency employee disclosed classified information without approval, according to the Washington Post.

Snowden has been charged with espionage since 2013, when he exposed top-secret surveillance documents in what may have been the biggest security breach in U.S. history.

The former contractor sees himself as a whistleblower compelled to reveal sweeping surveillance programs hidden from the American people. But through two administrations, the government has viewed him as a traitor who escaped justice by fleeing to Russia.

Unable to put him on trial, the Justice Department this year moved to cut off his profits from the book he published, “Permanent Record,” as well as from paid speeches. -Washington Post

Webmaster's Commentary:

Remember; Snowden has never, ever been proven wrong, in any statement Wikileaks has made; and that ... is why the US government is so absolutely furious with jim, that it would pull this kind of stunt.

Implausible Denials: The Crime at Jabal al Tharda. US-led Air Raid on Behalf of ISIS-Daesh Against Syrian Forces/By Prof. Tim Anderson Global Research, December 17, 2017

On 17 September 2016 a carefully planned US-led air raid on Jabal al Tharda (Mount Tharda), overlooking Deir Ezzor airport, slaughtered over 100 Syrian soldiers and delivered control of the mountain to DAESH / ISIS. After that surprise attack, the terrorist group held the mountain for almost a year, but did not manage to take the airport or the entire city. US-led forces admitted the attack but claimed it was all a ‘mistake’. However uncontested facts, eye witness accounts and critical circumstances show that was a lie. This article sets out the evidence of this crime, in context of Washington’s historical use of mercenaries for covert actions, linked to the doctrine of ‘plausible deniability’.

The Crumbling of America

In June of 2013 an Interstate bridge on a main commercial corridor between Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, Canada, collapsed and fell into the river below after being hit by a truck. This was not a high-speed collision; the truck simply bumped one of the main support pillars at low speed, but the weakened and dilapidated pillar broke from the strain and, without that extra bit of support, the entire bridge immediately collapsed. In prior examinations, the heavily-travelled bridge had not only been rated as functionally obsolete but structurally deficient and requiring replacement.

This is only one of thousands; the great majority of the physical infrastructure of the US is in a similar condition, involving roads, dams, bridges and more. More than 160,000 bridges in the US are officially categorized as dangerous, at risk of collapse, with such collapses now regularly occurring. (1) (2) (3)

Ousted President Evo Morales Says Transnational Corporations, US Gov’t Were Behind Bolivia Coup

Ousted Bolivian President Evo Morales did not hold back on his criticism of U.S. empire in an interview with Intercept co-founder Glenn Greenwald in Mexico. Morales was overthrown last month in a U.S.-backed coup that has left dozens dead and a country in upheaval. While faces in the White House may change, the same imperialist policies remain in place, Morales explained. Between Obama, Bush and Trump, he said:

I doubt that there are differences between them. Maybe in their form, but at the end of the day, there are no differences between them. They all speak of peace, but none speak of social justice or the independence of states, the dignity or identity of the people…so, as far as I see, democracy in America deceives its people into voting but neither the people nor the government rule, it is the transnational corporations who govern, whether it’s the Democrats or Republicans.”

The Richest Country’s Empty Plates. 50 Million Hungry Americans

When Reagan came to power in 1980, there were 200 food banks in the US; today there are more than 40,000, all overwhelmed with demand and forced to ration their dispersals. Before 1980, one out of every 50 Americans was dependent on food stamps. Today, it is one out of four.

That 50 million hungry Americans today includes the 25% of all children in the US who go to sleep hungry every night. About 25% of the American population today cannot buy sufficient food to remain healthy, with most of these being hungry for at least three months during each year. It is so bad that many college students have resorted to what we call “dumpster-diving” – looking in garbage bins for edible food.

Perhaps even more alarming was the release of study data in the middle of 2014 documenting that 25% of the US military members are also dependent on food stamps, food banks and other civilian welfare projects for their survival.

As Democrats tie political nooses around their own necks in a stunning display of coordinated mass political suicide, we are reminded that California is home to all sorts of cults and cult leaders who repeatedly manage to convince large numbers of people to do insanely self-destructive things.

The effort to impeach Trump, led largely by California Democrat Adam Schiff, rests entirely on the charge of a thought crime, where Trump is accused of thinking certain things as he took actions to root out corruption and malfeasance in Ukraine. The Democrats have attributed to Trump the most malicious thought crimes they could imagine, and there’s quite a rich kaleidoscope of horrors in the minds of these Dems, considering how many of them are child-raping perverts, drug users and sexual deviants in one way or another.

Brain Dead Congress Doesn’t Realize It’s Trying to Finish Off NATO

After what can only be termed a terrible NATO Not Summit two weeks ago it was clear the alliance has serious fissures forming in its facade.

It seems that the depths of our Congress’ cravenness before the desires of Israel knows no bottom. Erdogan has been explicit in his antipathy for Benjamin Netanyahu’s continued regional provocations to eke out a win in Syria.

Erdogan, Putin and Rouhani in Iran all know that Trump doesn’t have the stomach or the stupidity for war. So they have allowed the political forces in the U.S. to over-commit to a policy they can’t back up.

The Russia/China/Iran axis has simply played the ultimate game of attrition, reading the economic and political tea leaves perfectly while executing a pan-Eurasian strategy of integration through disengagement from U.S. and U.K. financial institutions. That strategy has failed. Trump knows it, but his State Dept. and CIA, as well as those of the U.K., France and Germany, refuse to accept defeat.

I'm especially tired of the deranged slug bodied liberals, who want to legalize everything and which leads only to a quagmire of flaming nihilism, in an entropic swamp. I'm tired of people not having the courage to stand up against the enemies of humanity with their Talmudic horrors that make Sharia look like kindergarten recess.

Corrupting Our Social Norms

Here are several questions for biologists and medical professionals: If a person is found to have XY chromosomes (heterogametic sex), does a designation as female on his birth certificate, driver’s license or Social Security card override the chromosomal evidence? Similarly, if a person is found to have XX chromosomes (homogametic) does a designation as male on her birth certificate, driver’s license or Social Security card override the chromosomal evidence? If you were a medical professional, would you consider it malpractice for an obstetrics/gynecology medical specialist, not to order routine Pap smears to screen for cervical cancer for a patient who identifies as a female but has XY chromosomes?
