"Let us never forget this fundamental truth: the State has no source of money other than money which people earn themselves. If the State wishes to spend more it can do so only by borrowing your savings or by taxing you more. It is no good thinking that someone else will pay—that “someone else” is you. There is no such thing as public money; there is only taxpayers' money."-- Margaret Thatcher

I hate to ask, but we REALLY need some more donations.

The chaos in the streets of France has a familiar ring to Americans who watched several cities burn in the summer of 2020. What started as "mostly peaceful" protests were quickly hijacked by chaos actors who whipped up excitable populations into a looting and pillaging frenzy, resulting in police crackdowns in the best cases but utter destruction in the worst cases.

The metaphor of the powder keg is one that is often invoked here. In the U.S. case, we had suffered months of COVID lockdowns that created pent-up energy on the part of an entire generation that had been shut out of schools, spilling into the streets in the name of protesting racism.

Oddly, a media that had been screaming for people to stay home and stay safe flipped on a dime to urge everyone to get out in the streets for purely political protests.

Something similar seems to have happened in France. Rising unemployment, high cost of living, underfunded and failing schools, loss of opportunity, rising crime, and frustration over waves of new immigrant populations have reached a fever pitch. Peaceful protests turned violent with masked and destructive provocateurs lighting fires and pillaging whole commercial sectors in many cities.

Claire's Observations:  To those  feeling insulated and secure from such events in the US and embrace the phrase, "this couldn't happen here" particularly those in our gated, guarded communities;  unless your community is completely surrounded by a moat filled with piranhas and alligators, and everyone living inside has to be airlifted from a helipad to a safe place outside of it,  yes it can.

And please think about it; the mythos of the "lone survivor/prepper" just doesn't make sense in the real world.

What people should be looking for right now, is how to align intelligently with those around you who have different, useful skill-sets.  THAT .... is what is going to make the difference between surviving and not, and should be part of every thinking American's "mental repertoire" right now, both in terms of potential riots... and foreign wars where the combatants are using weapons which could, logistically, reach and radically harm this country.
